Beachfront Goa Wedding Beautifully Planned By The Bride & Groom

There are so many elements we love about this one! A pandemic courtship, a cute home proposal and of course, planning their wedding in India sitting abroad! Kudos to Sumangala and Lokesh for planning their destination wedding themselves, and even making the decor moodboards and getting them implemented! Their beachfront wedding in Goa looked nothing short of dreamy, and we are in love with the bride's look- very offbeat with the hair left loose and that gorgeous pastel lehenga! Check out this wedding which had some serious fairytale feels, shot to perfection by the talented team at Lenseyezia Productions .
Meet Sumangala and Lokesh
We met on Hinge in London, a little before Covid hit the world. We spent most of the lockdown walking miles to meet each other. We both love to cook and that was what our dates were around - good food and endless conversations. In 2021 December, Loki proposed to me at our house in London. I didn’t see it coming, I was literally in my pajamas. We took the happiest selfies and went out for dinner.
Mehendi
This was our first event to meet our guests as they arrived. We created a Boho-Whimsical theme in ITC’s Magical Forest. We had ice-cream coloured pastels and dream catchers hanging from the trees. Neither of us wanted something too OTT, so at no point did the decor overpower the essence of the event, which was to meet friends and family and open the functions with a bang! We had a dhol band, which was really fun. In typical Punjabi style they brought everyone to dance and we had colour bombs paint the background as we danced away.
Funny anecdote - one of the colour bombs went a bit crazy, so I would advise anyone using them to get professionals to handle it.
Haldi
This turned out to be the most fun event. It was hosted at the deck of the Royal Afghan restaurant at ITC, which is right by the beach. We had beautiful yellow decor and the sea breeze that refreshed everyone from what had been an eventful night! We had a flower shower and were painted in yellow. The two of us at the end decided to run away from everyone and headed straight into the waves!
Wedding
Our wedding took place at the Seaside lawns and was planned around sunset. Being two people who were very particular about events happening as per plan, we really nailed the sunset pheras for the time. Enchanted forest met boho-beach decor for our main event.
From The Bride:
Our wedding took place on November 23, 2022. We both wanted a beach wedding. Our first choice was Cinnamon Bentota in Sri Lanka, unfortunately we had to withdraw when the economic situation there became unpredictable. We then moved to India and loved ITC Grand in Goa as a venue. The versatility of the property allowed us to create four distinct functions with a new look and feel. Overall, our wedding style was relaxed, nothing over the top, but still accentuated with elements that we love.
Lokesh and I planned and managed a large part of the events in Goa. We worked with a local team who helped execute the décor. Loki and I made all the mood boards for every event's decor.
I worked with local artists in Goa for the Mehndi. I chose baby elephants as a block print design on my feet, as both Loki and I love Baby elephants.
About WedMeGood
We used the WedMeGood App to connect with music artists and our photographers. We hired Lenseyezia after reading their profile on WedMeGood. It's a great app to start planning your wedding. You can really trust the vendors they list and it's a very convenient 1 stop shop to do all your research.
Vendor Reviews
Photography: Lenseyezia Productions
Lenseyezia was our team of photographers. I found them through WedMeGood and we are so happy with them. They captured some beautiful moments. The team is young and creative and worked well without us having to direct at all. We had them cover Mumbai and Goa. It was very convenient to have a team that was available in multiple cities without having to look into the logistics.
Venue: ITC Grand Goa
It's a great property for anyone planning a medium-large sized Indian wedding in Goa. Like I mentioned earlier, it allows you to use different parts of the resort, making each event truly different.
Makeup Artist: Afreen Shaikh
Afreen Shaikh was my makeup artist in Goa for my 3 functions. Her work is brilliant and her team for hair was also on point. I loved my open hair bridal look and Afreen kept the make-up very soft and minimal, as I liked.
Bridal Outfits
Haldi: For the Haldi, I wore a lemon yellow organic cotton saree that my mom made for me with beautiful borders and my grandmom’s kamarbandh.
Wedding: I wore a pink lehenga by Ahilian from Ensemble India. It was everything I wanted, it had a magical green and a softness in the thread embroidery. I felt like a real life princess and this was my magical moment! I have always loved pink, so the colour of my outfit was decided when I was probably 8!
Groomwear:
Mehendi and Sangeet: Loki complimented me with a Forest Green toned prince coat from Omar Farooq (Pakistani designer). Loki wore a black and gold hand embroidered Sherwani from Omar Farooq for the Sangeet.
Wedding: Loki wore a powder blue Varun Bahl Sherwani for the wedding. We were together in very stereotypical boy blue and girl pink, but we never intended it to be that way.
Bartending: The Wedding Bartenders
Another team that was great to work with were The Wedding Bartenders - they mixed some amazing cocktails and went the extra mile in personalizing the experience for all our guests.
Invitations: Trisha Salvi
Our card designer, a freelance artist Trisha Salvi, made the most beautiful video card for us. It was a blueprint of the themes we had thought of and she brought it alive with the best animations.
