We must admit we were a little amused at a picture flashed across newspapers recently. It was the picture of Srija Konidela, the daughter of Chiranjeevi who got married and as she sauntered and clicked a few Insta pictures, we noticed that her Mehendi shots all had one thing that's pretty much made itself obvious in the decor - a big queen size bed with an assortment of quirky pillows and a neat floral headstand.
A few months later, our timelines began going gaga over this new phenomenon all over again - brides all over have been flaunting this sweet decor idea and instagram-ing it to success. So what's the fuss about a bed? We got you all the deets.

What's a bed doing at a Mehendi? Well, long ago, Mehendis had jhulas where the bride sat with her BFFs and got her mehendi done. Soon this went on a makeover and small sofas began making an appearance. Then, it was small little chairs and bean bags, soon it became all about divans. Now, in 2016, old school charm prevailed and we went back to the times all the ladies gathered around in the bride's bedroom and lo, queen-sized beds are taking over the jhula.Picture courtesy: Andhrawishesh.com
What kind of beds are we talking about here? King and Queen size beds with a neatly decorated headboard and a helluva lot of cushions. It's like being a maharani and being attended to by handmaidens. So yes, a nice cushy bed will do, thank you! Also get innovative and do suspended beds, or beds draped in florals ! What other options are out there? Look for charpoys a la rustic India, but they are less than comfortable. Some people are using gaddas with beautifully done up table arrangements to make it look effortless. But honestly, nothing beats a nice big bed on a lawn and all the girls just having fun there. What does it cost us? NOTHING. Just get a bed from your room and deck it up. All you need to foot are transportation costs. Make sure you decorate the headboard and use some fun cushions. Make it look like your bedroom, but outdoors. The best bit? It makes a great photo-op!!!!
