All That We Loved From Tarun Tahiliani's Opening Show At The Indian Couture Week Fall 2018!

BY Soha | 27 Jul, 2018 | 1300 views | 3 min read

Ladies, we attended Tarun Tahiliani's show on the first day of the Indian Couture Week Fall 2018 and have so much to share with you! If you are expecting the usual TT-style outfits with layers and layers of ruffles and drapes, then boy, you are going to be surprised!

The designer opened the 5-day long fashion extravaganza with his collection 'Elysium', which exemplifies an India Modern aesthetic. The show was all about breezy, lightweight ensembles in pretty European colours that we know you are so gonna love!

If you ask us to quickly tell you what was the show all about then we'd say a soothing colour palette, shimmering motifs and weightless drapes. Oh, and crystals! (Yes, you read that right! It's Tarun Tahiliani we are taking about, after all)

We spent every bit of the 20 minute show fangirling over the outfits, scanning them with a hawk's eye, just so we could get the best details for you! But first - What do we begin with... there has been just so much that we loved at the show!

The Fabrics

For the collection, the designer worked with modern, lightweight fabrics like sheer silks, reshams, light brocades, bandhini and Italian tullé. Unlike his previous designs, these outfits seemed feathery light, with an ease of movement. Gone are the days when brides would wear heavy lehengas, and stay packed through the wedding rituals, or is it too soon to say?

Classic Embroideries

We also noticed use of classic Indian embroideries like zardoziarigota-patti and chikankari on them. But that is not all! The designer also incorporated Swarovski crystals for that extra sparkle, and we say it worked wonders!

Fun Motifs but Subtle Ones

With intricate floral and bird motifs in silk thread-work, all the outfits were extremely pleasing to the eyes! And to be honest, we cannot wait for brides to experiment with the same colors and designs for their wedding look!

The Pastel Colours

But you know what we absolutely loved at the show? The designer featured his collection of lehengas, sarees and saree drapes in a range of soft and ethereal colors like beige, jade, cobalt, soft blush, and powder blue on one hand and vibrant hues from the traditional Indian palette like shades of reds, maroons, midnight blue, ivory and gold  on the other.

Brides to be, whatever your style may be, you are sure going to find tonnes of ideas from the show!

Our favourite: Aditi's Off-Shoulder Outfit

And while we were still drooling over the designs, showstopper Aditi Rao Hydari swayed down the runway looking like a complete goddess! She wore a coral French-knot lehenga with a tulle drape and paneled veil, with intricate embroidery and detailing. Embellished with Swarovski crystals, the actress in her coral lehenga looked every bit a dreamy bride!

Also, the dusty blue faux fur frill half-sari outfit is another crowd favourite at WMG.

Tarun's show brought together outfits in fresh, new hues with added sparkles and crystals. These designs were super gorgeous to the eyes, and looked extremely light weight. What more can a bride ask for?

The WedMeGood Verdict

Trust TT to always know where our heart is! *winks* We think Tarun's Elysium collection bring together the rich Indian heritage with a modern way of life, creating light-weight lehengas- the ones that any modern bride would love!
