Ira Khan- Aamir Khan's daughter's recent wedding has set tongues wagging, and not in the usual way that celeb weddings do. With the groom signing papers in a ganji and shorts, this wedding was so unconventional that it has started a whole debate- some say it's groundbreaking, others say it's not in good taste. But the fact of the matter is, the couple, Ira Khan and Nupur Shikhare did whatever they wanted at their own wedding, and that is admirable. After all, it's 2024, so why shouldn't couples do their own thing at their own weddings?
From the outfits to what happened at the no-fuss wedding, everything was unique and unconventional- here's what made this wedding a quirky affair.
The groom wore, well... a ganji and shorts!
So while Farhan Akhtar was seen in this sweatshirt on his mehendi, Nupur Shikhare has gone way beyond that- choosing rather comfortable attire for his big day. He paired his shirt and shorts with sneakers- signing papers in this quirky groom attire. But he did change into a bandhgala later on.
A Baraat like no other- he ran to his bride.. literally!
Yup, this was hatke too. Their photographer wrote on Instagram, "Dodging the traditional Baraat, our groom Nupur, a three-time Iron Man champion, came to get married to his wonderful bride Ira, running a marathon! Every curveball was a pleasant surprise to us!"
The bride's offbeat outfit- no designers, no drama
Talking about outfits, the bride wore a rather different outfit as well. She wore a traditional-ish outfit, with a dupatta and choli, but paired it with dhoti pants and kolhapuri flats. With her red hair and traditional jewellery, it did make for a very unique bridal look!
The parents kept it fuss-free and simple too
Despite being a big star himself, Aamir Khan chose comfort and practicality over style, picking a simple beige kurta pyjama for his daughter's wedding. Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao kept it effortlessly elegant too.
A signing face-off
The wedding was all fun and games with both the sides indulging in signing face-offs, which made the photos super fun too! Everyone seems to be having a jolly good time with a lot of banter!
Not a red-carpet affair
Usually Bollywood weddings have the whole galaxy of stars descending, but not this one. It was mostly family and friends- those who mattered to the couple.
