A Whimsical Engagement Brunch With A Chic Lehenga!

We love the concept of a brunch as opposed to night functions- and this one came with pretty decor which would be nice for an intimate wedding too. But perhaps our biggest draw to this Engagement cum Roka was the bride's outfit- a gorgeous, dainty Tarun Tahiliani lehenga which was effortlessly elegant and very very chic. Shagun and Aditya's engagement in Kolkata was whimsical and a classy affair. Take a look.
Meet Shagun and Aditya
We met in a party on 2018, 1st April, went on our first date on 6th and I flew to UK for 2 weeks on 8th. We started dating once I returned. I work in Gurgaon, and he in Delhi, and due to our busy schedules we only manage to meet once or twice a week or sometimes once in two weeks. It was then that we realised that even Gurgaon & Delhi can be long distance sometimes! We are opposites in every way possible from food choices, to movies to hobbies - however, maybe the term opposites attract holds true in our case, as we still connect despite our dissimilarities. We help each other grow as individuals, respect each others opinions, and try to meet midway during arguments! We are still thinking on how we wanna get married during these uncertain times, but we definitely intend to keep it really private and intimate.

From The Couple:
We are engaged and plan to tie the knot soon! We hosted a very private and intimate engagement/roka ceremony with only those guests around who really matter to us. We want to have that event with lots of booze, music, and fun! We want to keep it simple, yet heartwarming and personalised.
Asked some close friends and family to speak and raise a toast for us. We played the shoe game to make it fun for our guests and also so that they could be a part of our story. We kept the gifts very personalised with little thank you notes. We printed some cards with our hashtag # ShagunkADIn and clipped that to cocktail glasses, and placed it on the bar and seating areas and on the gifts as well. Since it was a brunch party, we wanted to keep the decor very simple yet cute. We had a personalised board at the entrance which read - Welcome to our beginning. We also had a personalised cocktail menu with our story. We kept a drink each as specials for the bride and groom. The drink for the bride was called 'Uptown Girl' as I have that vibe, and since the groom is a Chelsea fan, we called his drink 'True Blue'. Our aim was to curate a fun filled afternoon with a tinge of personalisation.
Vendor Reviews
Venue: The Lalit Great Eastern, Kolkata
The staff was very helpful! All our guests were checked in without any hassles. We had sent all the id’s before via email, and had also received room numbers for each guest before the check in. The check in was very smooth. All requirements via personal requests were catered to and our guests had a pleasant stay. The food was amazing! And service was very good as well. The Wilson Manager met us and discussed the menu and arrangements in detail. We curated the menu over multiple rounds of discussions. We had a wide range of food items and alcohol accommodated in our budget. The space was made available giving time to our decorators to work and all help required was provided. Overall a very good experience.
Photographer: FramedbyRG
Our pictures were taken by Framed, a pretty well used agency for photography. Alot of my friends and family had used them, and hence I was well aware of their work. I though wasnt very satisfied with the pictures. The pictures were good, but I expected them to be great. As I was really busy, I didnt really focus on this element but I feel the expectations should be discussed with the client on what one is really looking for. I don't think my expectations were truly met with respect to the quality, etc. I would suggest others to have a detailed chat with your photographers, and communicate expectations to them clearly to ensure all your memories are captured in the frame, with all the people important to you. On the day, everyone is so busy, we do end up forgetting taking pictures with our loved ones.
Decor: Seize the day
I think Seize the day did a fabulous job with the decor. Each and every request was met. Last moment changes were done. And they accommodated it all. We had various discussions on the decor, and client expectations were well noted and an outstanding job was done. Even though the place was made available to them quite late as to their original plan, they ensured everything was done on time. They had a variety of ideas, inputs and choices to offer out of which we made our selections . They delivered and even surpassed my expectations. The founder herself was present ensuring all the arrangements were done on time , which gave me an extra sense of security. Great great job!
Bridal Outfit: Tarun Tahiliani
Sabina from the TT mehrauli store, helped me in my selections. She was highly patient, and answered all my queries via calls, whatsapps, personal store visits etc. There was only 1 round of trials needed. As my function was in Calcutta, the outfit had to be couriered there. She ensured the outfit was couriered on time and the entire experience was smooth and hasstle free. I was very satisfied with the experience and felt personal attention at every point . The fittings etc was a very smooth process and I was very very happy and calm and tension free when it came to my clothes. Would be shopping from TT again very soon!
