A Thoughtfully Curated Bali Wedding With Attention To Every Detail!

What else can we expect when both the bride and groom are designers themselves? From besties to now bride and groom, Rashi and Karan's relationship has had quite a journey! While Rashi is a production designer in LA working with names like Eminem and Katy Perry, Karan is an industrial designer working in New York designing EV chargers. So one can expect that every detail of their wedding was thoughtfully curated. That's where Two Fat Ladies★ 5 came in, helping the couple plan their dream wedding in Bali! Their wedding looked like an absolute blast- with cute little decor and details that floored us. Take a look at this beautiful celebration of love and friendship.

Meet Rashi and Karan

They met in 2011, 13 years ago in Architecture school, the couple tells us.

Welcome & Mehendi

For the welcome experience - balinese dancers greeted guests and were served Rosella tea (a refreshing local drink). While guests waited for their rooms they had to find their names on a wall created and designed by the couple

Mehendi & Sangeet

 

The mehendi and sangeet was themed as a balinese styled dinner having large penjors highlighting a balinese style temple. For center pieces small balinese umbrellas were combined with local tropical flowers

Haldi

Yellow and Lavender kites and origami birds provided the perfect backdrop to the couple dressed in lavender for the fun haldi and pool party. It also gave the couples to introduce the world famous indonesisna foot reflexology to guests

Wedding

The highlight of the two day celebration was the wedding. The bride entered on a pre recorded speech which not only left the groom but alll the guests Teary eyed. For the Mandap the bride chose to have a simple tree hanging with kaleeres - that not only reflected a huge part of the indian wedding tradition but also gave a clear view to the pristine beaches and blue waters of Bali.

From The Bride:

Our wedding took place on April 26, 2024. We had been best friends for 9 years before we started dating in 2020, and what better way to spend the rest of our lives with the person we can be the most comfortable, honest & vulnerable with. We did not try to impress each other; we were already friends who loved each other. 

We decided to take on the challenge of having our wedding in Bali while being in different parts of America ourselves. We hired Namrata from Two Fat Ladies, a planner who helped us turn our dream wedding into a reality and chose Ayodya Resort Bali as the property, a heritage venue that made us nostalgic about our architecture days. Additionally, we worked with Gaatha for the photography as theycaptured some of the purest emotions around.

We curated each and every moment of the wedding ourselves. The most important thing for us was creating a personal experience for our intimate 120-person guest list. As designers, it's been the biggest project of our life yet! Along with our planner, we decided on each detail- from the key cards to the color of the flowers and the centerpieces, making the experience as immersive as possible for the guests. The execution done by Two Fat Ladies was beyond everything we had hoped for. It was also very important to curate a wedding having the right balance between showcasing Bali- the destination, and Indian traditions which we stand for as a couple.

Our wedding was not just about two people getting married; it was a celebration of love and friendship. It was a testimony to the fact that true love knows no bounds, and when it's meant to be, it will find a way.

Selecting the venue was a process for us, specially cause we were doing the Bali and planning it from United States. Thank to 2FL this process also became smooth. We reached the venue, and we have seen this venue in photos/videos multiple times, it was so grand and beyond our imagination. It screamed architecture, heritage and culture to us and we were immensely happy with our decision to get married here!

Ruupa & Krupa are a perfect mother daughter combination who work so very well together. They did my hair & makeup for all my wedding events and I have never felt so pretty while still feeling like me. They don’t let you lose the essence of who you are, help you make cute reels, also get some behind the scenes on their phone when you photographer is clicking you guys and have a very happy and positive attitude. They use products that are good for your skin and prep your skin as well before the makeup!

Our experience shooting with them was truly impressive. From Mumbai to Bali and back, they captured us in our most genuine forms, without directing every pose. Their immense talent and creativity made our photos and videos look like a movie, earning high praise from friends. The team was emotionally attuned, reminding us to smile, helping us feel comfortable, and capturing everyone around us. They were fun and friendly, making conversations easy. They even remembered our photo references and ensured we got those shots. Our pre-wedding shoot at a Bali waterfall and later visits to Portland, USA, for a 10-waterfall hike had us thinking, "Gaatha would have loved shooting here." They've become a part of our vocabulary whenever we capture a great shot.
