The bride wanted a big wedding, the groom wanted to celebrate by their love for travel. So these two decided to combine their passion and get married in different cities across the world as they travelled from continent to continent. First stop- India !
This is a story of a couple who decided to get married in 3 countries to seal their everlasting bond and boy, India was one big destination in this list. In any case, let's accept one thing - with all the hungama and the grand gestures our weddings are made of, why would this couple not include this crazy country? And as they prepped and researched, they reached out to wedding planners, Sajda Weddings to create the madness that is the quintessential Indian wedding with all the colours, the vibe and all the drama included. And it was an affair to remember alright.
The Story:
Vinicius & Cassia got married in Sao Paulo, Brazil on 30th May this year among a gathering of 15 people. And after the wedding, the couple had their own thoughts on how to celebrate the rest of the union. Cassia wanted a big wedding and a bigger party. Vinicus wanted to combine their love for travel into something worthwhile.
“When Cassia told me she wants to throw a big party for our relatives and friends, I was not happy. I told her, let's travel the world and see places, as we both love to travel. But she was adamant, she wanted a wedding, a special one. That's when we decided to combine both our ideas - travel to different cities and on the journey, choose a few special places to get married at” says Vinicus, the groom.
And so, they planned their trip across countries and chose three destinations to get married at. How could India miss that list ? It is perhaps the biggest, most exuberant celebration any culture can have.
The Sajda Wedding Connection:
"Vinicius & Cassia’s wedding planner, who planned this intimate affair for them in Brazil, Roberta Canuto, of Casa-de-Dois, she searched long and hard for a wedding planner in Delhi, who could execute all the things they wanted within a shoestring budget. And someone they could trust to make all the arrangements. They were very clear about the brief “We want a small affair nothing big and fancy with just the two of us, and some people to celebrate with, and we want to get married in the most traditional way possible.”
"The whole idea was just too romantic to not be a part of. And to our delight, they turned out to be the most adorable and prefect couple we could have imagined!," say the guys over at Sajda Weddings.
The Indian Trip:
Their arrival in India was no less than an adventure in itself. After a few taxi issues, bad roads, narrowest of lanes and bad drivers, they arrived at their hotel, with their luggage and the hotel wasn't how they imagined it to be. They had almost made up their mind that it was a bad idea to choose India as one of the destinations to get married.
But they met the wedding planners who in turn took them out to show them the real Delhi - the one we all love and adore. Fancy markets, sweet shopping, clean roads and nice cars. Add "Butter chicken" to the list and soon, they became big fans of India.
The Mehendi:
Cassia was super excited about this part - the Henna (tattoo) ceremony as she calls it. As the Mehendi Artist skillfully kept designing her hands and arms, she happily sat there, enjoying the process. Vinicius had plenty to do as well. He had to capture each moment to show to their families back home, he had to answer and ask a lot of questions to his new friends/baraatis! Then came the pre-wedding shoot, with all the doses of cheesy stuff and loads of corny PDA.
The Haldi Ceremony:
When asked what were they expecting the wedding to be like, Vinicius said, “We thought we'll put on some Indian clothes on and get married and the whole thing will be over in a few hours”. But Sajda Weddings made sure they got the full Dilli experience. It was going to be a full-blown shaadi experience!
The traditional Haldi ceremony was a delight. Cassia looked adorable with the turmeric colour on her skin and she got so emotional and teary-eyed. Vinicius documented the ceremony wearing a kurta and churidaar. Then there was the chooda ceremony with kaleeras. Vinicus wasn't spared too, haldi and ubtan were smeared on him and laddoos were fed to the whole group, it was memorable - the whole shebang was managed and produced beautifully.
The Wedding:
MUA Makeup by Maanavi and her hair stylist Rohit transformed this Brazilian beauty into a gorgeous breathtaking Indian Bride!
Vinicius looked absolutely dashing in his black and gold sherwani. Sanatan Dharm Mandir in GK, also known as Pahadiwala Mandir was the venue. The mandap in the temple was adorned with gendaphool and kaleeras in the most beautiful manner possible by Sagun & Megha Bhayana from Mantra Events. Bhakti and Prasoon from Prismlens Photography left no stones unturned in capturing each moment of this two-day experience.
Vinicius & Cassia sat down to perform their wedding rituals though everything had to be translated and explained. After the wedding, everyone changed into slightly more comfortable attire and took the newly weds and the whole team for an evening of merriment, good food and a celebration of Love!
The future plans:
After Delhi, their next stop is Agra, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Varanasi and then they fly to Indonesia. They are getting married in Bali next and last in Japan.
Here's wishing these two love birds all the happiness and hope you enjoyed this cute love story brought to life by the endearing guys at Sajda Weddings.
