Unless you've been living under a rock so far, you would know that bridal fashion in India has come a long way! Gone are the days when all the options you had for every wedding function were crazy heavy- bridal fashion these days is all about being comfortable and having fun while looking fabulous! That's why we've put together some new, some refreshing and some breezy silhouettes to include in your bridal trousseau!
Trouser Lehenga
We spotted this new silhouette during Diipa Khosla's wedding which was a custom-made Anamika Khanna one, and we love how easy peasy it is for brides! Masaba Gupta's new collection has it too (pink and blue one), and we think it's so new and refreshing! A lehenga with a pant - this is so perfect for like a welcome brunch, mehendi or a pool party or even something like the Sangeet when you have to dance the night away!
Embellished Jumpsuit
This is something that wasn't considered 'bridal' till now, but when they are embellished so pretty, how can it not feature in a wedding trousseau? We definitely love the ones by Papa Don't Preach (electric blue) and Ridhi Mehra (maroon)! If you're looking for more budget labels, you can consider Surendri by Yogesh Chaudhary, Ridhima Bhasin, Mani Bhatia (light pink), Bhumika Sharma and Soup by Sougat Patil.
Pant Suit or Culottes Suit
This is another interesting new silhouette which we predict might be big this new year! Pant sets, which look casual yet composed are so trending right now- and the bottom could be cigarette pants or even culottes! Papa Don't Preach does some amazing ones, as does SVA!
Draped jacket gown
It's something like a cross between a jacket, an Anarkali and a gown, and it's so perfect for the engagement, sangeet or any other small function! We've spotted these by Anita Dongre (blue) and Papa Don't Preach by Shubhika (green), and love how new and interesting it is!
Dhoti Cape Sets
A dhoti with a cape- whether it is something with a long top or a bustier looks amazing! Capes are hassle free and breezy, and the silhouette looks fun and playful! Payal Singhal, Sue Mue (yellow one), Pratyusha Garimella and Jayanti Reddy do some pretty ones too as do Monikaa Nidhi, Tisha Saksena (blue one), Maison Blu (lilac one) and Kalki Fashions, which are some other labels to get a nice one!
Draped Skirt and Crop Top Sets
This is a fun new silhouette which has really come into the limelight off late, and we love it! Arpita Mehta (pink one) is the undisputed queen of this silhouette, and other designers who do these really well are Sukriti and Akriti (blue), Jayanti Reddy (black0, Kresha Lulla, House of Masaba among other labels. We absolutely adore this one for a welcome brunch or the Mehendi!
Saree Gown
As far as high-end designers are concerned, Gaurav Gupta, Anamika Khanna (silver one), Manish Malhotra, Shantanu Nikhil, Amit Aggarwal (ivory one) have some amazing unique ones. In the mid-budget designers, you have Sonaakshi Raaj (peach one), Bhumika Sharma, Nitya Bajaj, Malini Ramani, Mandira Wirk, Reeti Arneja and Sana Bareja who do some pretty ones. This is a great silhouette to consider for the Sangeet or Reception.
Pant Sarees
Whether it is something which is tapered at the bottom, like a dhoti or even a palazzo, pant sarees are here, and looks like here to stay! Anamika Khanna (pink and red one) is the queen of these, as is Payal Singhal if you're looking for something more casual. Nitya Bajaj (green one), Tisha Saksena, Roshni Chopra and Posh Pride and even Global Desi (maroon) do some pretty ones as well, if you're looking for something on a budget. This is a very comfortable silhouette to consider for your Mehendi!
Sharara Set
A Sharara set is a great addition, thanks to how modern this traditional outfit has become! There are so many variants to it- like the new age sharara with an embellished bustier and short jacket by Akanksha Gajria, the traditional one with a kurta by Swati Ubroi or the breezy jacket one by Varun Bahl! Arpita Mehta does some amazing ones as well! So many options out there, and really depends on how formal or casual you want it! Sukriti and Akriti has some amazing ones as well!
Palazzo-inspired outfits
Palazzos are some comfortable, and imagine them in one of your bridal outfits, which would be perfect for a laid-back beach wedding! While Payal Khandwala (mustard and blue) does some amazing ones in brocade and benarasi, other designers who are pros with this are Ridhima Bhasin and Posh Pride (beige).
