{This article features stores from Delhi and stores that are online} Since wedding and Diwali season is upon us, or will be soon enough {oh hello favourite time of year}, your offspring will need to get the dress code memo for the season. Since mini-me Anarkalis, Kurtas, and Lehengas without backless cholis, one too many sequins, and fabrics that poke more than pamper are hard to come by, we did some digging. In anticipation of the impending festivities, here are 10 places to help you add to your little one’s Indian outfit selection.

Lehengas from Madsam

Madsam Tinzin  The cutest little lehengas for kids from 1-7 years in pastel colors, with halter necks, soft fabrics and gorgeous dupattas. They don't come cheap starting at 5000 Rs per lehenga but theyr OMG delicious ! Where: Shahpur Jat, Delhi   Jainsons Tycoon | A staple and hugely popular store for Indian clothes for both children and adults, Jainsons is perfect for the less extravagant, more economical buy. They cater to all age groups, starting 0 years up, and have a wide variety ofkurtas, dhotis, lungis, lehengas and suits. Better still, since they cater to a wide audience, you’re likely to find the same kurta across sizes {father and son}, perfect for a matchy-matchy Diwali photo we know you’re dying to take. Where: N Block, GK-1 Market Delhi Price: INR 600 upwards Good Earth |  We know you associate Good Earth with all things household, but they do a near perfect line for children, complete with Indian inspired motifs, silhouettes and cuts. Although you won’t find the regular lehengas and suits, they do dokurtis, wrap around tops with matching pyjamas, and paisley print shirt and pants. We recommend for the 0-1 age group, since anything fancier just gets cumbersome for the baby and parent. Where: All Good Earth stores, find a location nearest to you here.  Price: INR 800 upwards Almirah | Having stumbled upon them in a recent flea market, their miniature ikat and tie and dye kurtas had us wishing for a stork visit. Only because storks look so damn good in ikat. Almirah also does paisley and small animal printedkurtas for boys, and extends the same fabrics to summer dresses {too-die}, and top and bottom combos for little girls, all inspired from Indian fabrics. Perfect for summer dos, so your babies can breathe, stay clear of the chunnichocking hazard, and look even cuter. Throw in a matching diaper bag to complete the look. And for when they’ve outgrown their outfits, the stork is waiting in the wings. Where: 38 Meherchand Market and SG082, Galleria Market, Gurgaon Price: INR 800 upwards. Find them on Facebook here Urvashi Kaur | For the designer devotees, Urvashi Kaur, although she doesn’t specialise, is happy to do children’s clothes on order. Her studio has a capsule collection of children’s wear, and she’s happy to design an outfit based on your needs and requirements or, referring to matchy-matchy, a mini version of whatever it is you order. She excels in her work with Indian textiles, and extends that exact aesthetic to kids wear, across age groups. Where: By Appointment Only, get in touch with her here.  Price: On request Medha Nanda |  Brand new kid’s wear label on the block {so brand new, her label name is a WIP}, Medha Nanda, a former designer, is back in the game, this time with all her attention on kids wear, catering to the 0-14 years age group. Her entire line stays true to the white and off white colour palette, complete with colour inserts in terms of embroidery or detailing. As a mother of two, she believes there’s enough colour to go around, especially for children, and is switching things up with an all white line. Not to worry, all the work on the clothes will help conceal stains. Where: By appointment only, contact 9910129773 Price: On request Little Almirah |  Little Almirah is your answer to more formal, heavier Indian clothing. We’re talking brocades in pop colours, netlehengas, kurtas with patialas, sequined lehengas, Nehru jackets, and to infuse a little contemporary spirit, tuxes and suits. Little Almirah is definitely for dressier occasions, and caters to children from the age group of 0 upwards. Newborn babies in Nehru Jackets with pocket squares? Edible. Where: 5D/1 First Floor, Dada Jungi Lane, Shahpurjat; Contact: 9811880120 Price: On request Baby Jalebi |  If we had children, they’d be in Baby Jalebi. God damn you estrogen. For the baby boys – lime green kurtas with a checked detailing around the neck and bird printed pyjamas, blue ikat kurtas with a bright orange salwar, and a beige kurta pyjama with a cobalt blue Nehru Jacket. For the little ladies – floral kurtas with a matching sharara and polka dotted chunni, and straight kurtas with a frill detail and Pakistani pants. We don’t know if it’s because the designs are stunning, baby friendly and not OTT, or if everything miniature is cute, but Baby Jalebi definitely has all our votes come Diwali, Holi or Christmas. Now if only they super sized their clothes. Where: Shop them online, here.  Price: INR 1500 upwards Baby Oye |  If you’re in the market last minute for a full Indian outfit, and don’t have the time to do the rounds to buy matching fabric for a blouse, lehenga and chunni, Baby Oye will come to the rescue. They retail readymade lehenga, salwar kameez and kurta pyjama sets. Special place in our hearts for the Gujarati style dhoti pants and Angarkha style tops, and their line of cotton boys’ kurtas.
