"My style is simple and classy", says the bride and that is probably evident in each detail of the wedding. From the the effective colorblocked decor , to the subtle outfits that are super elegant - this Gujju-Mallu affair shot by Siddharth Sharma is a total color riot !

Meet Nilisha and Karun

We first met in 2010 at a Debate competition while we were both pursuing our MBAs.  He is a Malayali from Cochin who had lived mainly in Mumbai and Delhi while I am a Gujarati from Mumbai who was raised in Coimbatore. He was an Engineer hoping to be a Commodities Trader and I went on to work in Fashion & Luxury. So you can imagine how neither of us ever thought we would get married !
We continued to be friends for the longest time and when we met in mid 2014 , things just clicked between us . We then realized how much we really do have in common despite the obvious differences. Our underlying outlook and views towards life and marriage very pretty much the same.

The Mehendi

The Wedding

From the bride:  We had just over 2 months to plan the entire wedding.  As we're both  private people, the underlying vision was to create a small, intimate and cozy wedding where we could celebrate with people who really mattered to us.

My personal style is to keep things simple and classy. Hence, I do not believe in creating loud decor elements or going in for over-embellished clothes.  I was very sure that I wanted to go with Red and Gold as I feel red really compliments my wheatish skin tone. So we built the whole decor theme around the color of my bridal lehenga. The bridal ensemble took 1 month to make as it was completely hand-made and covered with zardozi work. I decided to use just a hint of midnight blue on the border to bring to life the red and gold elements on the ensemble.
For the decor, We went with ivory, gold and red as the color theme for the wedding. We used elements such a lotus shaped gold installations with roses and  crystal hangings for the guest-entry area,  and golden urlis with rose petals  to adorn the area near the mandap. The mandap itself was an open-air mandap draped in Ivory and adorned with hangings of rajnigandha and coconut husk balls colored in gold. Since it was a Gujju-Mallu wedding, it worked out beautifully as Karun's entire family came dressed in their traditional Malayali sareesand mine came in shades of ivory, gold and red. Since it was an outdoor, mid-morning wedding, the colors looked absolutely stunning.
