How refreshing! Is the thought that came to mind when we saw this bride's Mehendi look. It was simple, but still stood out beautifully, and we love how cute their mehendi portraits are! We also went on to figure that's the case with all her bridal looks! Real Bride Sanya got married to her beau Dhruv in Delhi, and their wedding was pretty thanks to the picture perfect couple and the beautiful shots by DelhiVelvet - By Divishth Kakkar★ 4.3

Meet Sanya and Dhruv

Our story starts in 2010, when we randomly stumbled across each other a couple of times during the first year of university. We went to different colleges, but kept bumping into each other. At the time, we never spoke, and didn’t even know each other’s names. But deep down — as we admitted to each other later — we always wanted to be friends.
Thankfully, as luck would have it, we wound up in the same college for our postgrad. Soon, the serendipitous encounters from a few years ago turned into a rock-solid friendship. And, within a few weeks, we realised that this wasn’t merely some ordinary friendship — we were seriously attracted to each other. The sad part, though: we were already seeing different people.
College ended and we started working, and regrettably, drifted apart. After more than a year, we got in touch again, hoping that the third time would be a charm.

Sanya: “I remember going for dinner with him on a cold December night in 2015 and thinking ‘what if’.”

Dhruv: “I felt pretty much the same way. I knew I liked her, but was unsure about getting into a serious relationship.”

Eventually, the stars aligned and that tantalising ‘what if’ turned into a relationship. And soon, what started out as a casual romance metamorphosed into deep love, the kind that confirmed our belief that this was always meant to be — our shared destiny. We haven’t looked back since. He proposed to me on my birthday and of course the answer was YESSS! What has kept us going through the years is the fact that we’ve always been real with each other. We’ve accepted each other wholeheartedly — no pretense or pressure to act or behave in a certain way. Moreover, as clichéd as it may sound, our ability to remain best friends has meant that our relationship continues to be an immensely happy and enjoyable journey.

We got our Save The Date made from a Viatnamese illustrator. I had worked with her before and she did the Save The Date as a wedding gift to us. She made one of our pictures into an illustration. We got the wedding invitations done from local vendors.

Mehendi

The decor for Mehendi was done by me. I managed my mehendi myself and wanted it to be done in a traditional way at home. I personally bought all the decor and worked along a local flower vendor for the setup. I designed the venue and chose to work with a local flower vendor than a big one to promote local businesses. The backdrop for the mehendi included all traditional elements thus reflecting the style of the entire event. My mum's friends got a dholak and we had a lot of fun on old folk songs.

For mehendi outfit, I went with Pratishtha The Label. Pratishtha is a close friend and I always wanted her to design one of my outfits.

Cocktail

The decor for the cocktail was Black and Gold complemented by loads of lights. There was a separate area designed by the pool where we exchanged rings. The area where we exchanged rings was truly magical.

My cocktail outfit was more contemporary with a Blue one shoulder evening gown that matched with my husband's custom made suit. I wanted my outfit to capture my outgoing personality and free spirit and the same was well represented in my outfit. It is very comfortable and was the perfect choice for a night full of dancing.

Wedding

The wedding decor was all white and gold with loads of flowers. The stage was full of roses and candles.

I always wanted my wedding outfit to be traditional and conventional and that's why I went with a custom made red zardozi lehenga with moti, beads, resham and dabka work. I absolutely loved my lehenga but didn't realise how heavy it was until I wore it.

From the Couple:

The wedding was 3 day affair that started with Mehendi followed by Cocktail and the wedding. Both of us were very involved with all the preparations and were hands on with decor, lighting, guests list etc. We planned the wedding ourselves. I loved all my outfits and they were exactly what I wanted.

Vendor Reviews

Wedding Cake

The cake was done by Sana Nair, from The Mellow Yellow. She is amazing with her work and made my dream wedding cake. It tasted heavenly too!

Makeup Artist

Neha Grover was amazing to work with. She understood my style and exactly did what I wanted. I went for a glam look on my engagement with bold eyes. Neha did an amazing job and I got way too many compliments. For the wedding, since my lehenga was red, I wanted minimal make-up. Neha did an amazing job on the wedding day, too.

Groom Outfit

Bharat Kathuria Label- Bharat made Dhruv's suit for the engagement and cocktail party. Bharat has a great sense of style, and he pitched in with a lot of ideas and suggestions. The suit, made with a velvet fabric imported from Holland & Sherry in London, was exactly how we had envisioned it. It complemented the bridal gown perfectly.
