Unique Honeymoon Destinations In Asia To Fit Your Budget!
|
|
Asia is super underrated if you ask me. Barring Thailand ( the usual spots) and Bali, most couples don't explore much else. The big question then is, why not? There's so much more to see and experience in Asia and some amazing locales can really take on Europe #truestory. We know you hardly have the time to do the research because of your lehenga appointments and dermat sessions so we decided to give you the goop on where to go in Asia. And trust us, it's in your budget and oh-so-different at the same time!
Chiang Mai, Thailand
One of the most wanted honeymoon locations, Thailand is known for its beaches, food and friendly people. You can opt for the nightly cruise along the Ping River, which includes shopping at the night market and taking time to explore the dozens of temples in the area.
Luang Prabang, Laos
With an abundance of French colonial influence mixed with ancient temples and culinary experiences around every corner, Luang Prabang is a one of a kind city. Luang Prabang has seen a flood of investment recently and is being revived with fabulous – though affordable – boutique hotels, and some of the best chefs in Southeast Asia moving in. But with all that you can also enjoy aquamarine waterfalls, trekking, mountain-bike trails, kayaking trips, river cruises and outstanding natural beauty, the whole ensemble encircled by hazy green mountains.
Noonu Atoll, Maldives
Maldives has enjoyed a reputation as a honeymooners’ paradise for its blue lagoons, pristine beaches, and coral atolls attracting celebrities across the world. Soneva Jani is eco-resort on the Noonu Atoll which is one of the last untouched islands in Maldives. Soneva Jani is home to the Maldives’ first over water observatory and the country’s largest telescope, a 16-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain mounted on a 20-foot mast—powerful enough to zoom in on Jupiter, Saturn, and the Sombrero Galaxy, some 31 million light-years away.
Koh Kood, Thailand
Looking for island getaways? Koh Kood is only an hour’s flight from Bangkok and easily accessible by plane. It’s one of Thailand’s last unspoilt islands. There are homestays and budget hotels, as well as a handful of luxury resorts, but even these promote a barefoot, relaxed approach. There are no landlines, little internet access, and few cars. All is slow, warm tranquillity. So if you are looking for an unplugged honeymoon – this is a perfect pick!
Koh Rong Archipelago, Cambodia
You might have known Cambodia only by its touristy angle. For a different kind of Cambodia experience, head to the untouched Koh Rong Archipelago and the private island of Song Saa (“the sweethearts” in Khmer), the country’s first luxury private island resort. It’s set on a marine reserve, which keeps the islands’ reefs and marine life (including turtles, seahorses and exotic species of tropical fish) safe. Let’s save the fishes!
Fiji
After watching Cast Away and the teen-dream classic The Blue Lagoon, Fiji has always been a honeymooner’s paradise. Dazzling sands, perfect palm trees and waters so blue they glow – Fiji’s beaches look airbrushed. The islands of Taveuni in Fiji– known as ‘The Garden Island’ are great for hikers and birdwatchers. Fiji has endless stretches of intensely coloured reefs and more than 1500 species of fish and colossal creatures making it perfect for people who love to snorkel, scuba and swim. Water babies, are you listening?
Siem Reap, Cambodia
Built as a religious monument of the mighty Khmer Empire, a visit to Angkor Wat is an awe-inspiring experience—and something perfectly suited newlyweds. Angkor is a place to be savoured, not rushed, and this is the base from which to plan your adventures. It has reinvented itself as the epicentre of chic Cambodia, with everything from backpacker party pads to hip hotels, world-class wining and dining across a range of cuisines, sumptuous spas, great shopping, and local tours to suit both foodies and adventure couples.
Malaysian Borneo
Borneo is a nature lover's paradise. One of only two places left in the world to see wild orangutans, you can divide your time in Borneo between searching for wildlife on rainforest treks, exploring waterfalls in national parks, and lying on undeveloped beaches. Sounds like the perfect honeymoon to us!
Japan
A lot of people don’t think of Japan when they think Asia. On the surface, Japan appears exceedingly modern, but travelling around it offers numerous opportunities to connect with the country's traditional culture. Stay at an exotic Ryokan with private hot spring baths, learn how to whisk bitter matcha, enjoy the romantic scenery in the quaint rural villages and enchanting precincts filled with cherry blossom. Japan is a romantic getaway that’s right out of a dream!
Srilanka
Although Sri Lanka off the southern coast of India doesn't receive a lot of attention, the islands are one of the best in the world! Great spicy curry, friendly people, an interesting culture, and are relaxed atmosphere. If you are a crab lover – The Ministry of Crab is one place we recommend. A honeymoon in Sri Lanka is an unique way to start a new life together.
Taiwan
Taiwan is a wonderful honeymoon destination for those looking for something a little more adventurous and unique than just glorious beaches and a spot of pampering. Great weather and astonishing beaches are certainly here for the taking, but so are romantic colonial cities, rainforests and thrilling festivals filled with dragon dances.
