Sisters before misters!
This was true when it came to the grand union of Julia Haydon and Aditya Chanrai, whose sister, leading Indian model Lisa Haydon played cupid for. Their stunning wedding took place in various iconic venues of London, where Aditya grew up, including the famous Natural History Museum!
Meet Julia and Haydon
In 2016, Chanrai was working in Conde Nast India’s video department, producing a show called BFFs with Vogue. This is where he met model and actor Lisa Haydon Lalvani, who went on to introduce Chanrai to her sister.
After a dreamy proposal in Switzerland, the couple decided to tie the knot this year in London. The wedding took place at The Berkeley Hotel in Knightsbridge, starting with a traditional baraat through the streets of Belgravia. An Indian wedding was a moment to behold for all of their friends who flew in from different parts of the world. We loved the stunning mandap that was inspired by the English countryside along with a fun Indian street food brunch!
For the Hindu wedding, Julia wanted to honour her Australian roots too so she picked up a stunning all-white lehenga from Manish Malhotra with a veil. Gaayatri Dhawan of Beauty by G did her glam and it was perfect!
Doing things differently, the couple had their sangeet AFTER the wedding so they could enjoy it without worrying about the wedding prep. We like that! It took place at Rosewood London with a fun saké bar right on the dance floor and a performance by Vyas Brothers. Julia wore a black and gold Rahul Mishra lehenga to dance the night away.
For the reception, the couple went all out and did it at the iconic Natural History Museum in London. While it was a task to get the place decorated within a stipulated time frame but the moment of the night was when the entire squad came together to dance under the iconic 82-foot blue whale skeleton suspended from the ceiling! Julia chose a sage green cape gown by Shantnu & Nikhil for this occasion. The couple walked down the stunning stone staircase to the song ‘We Were Young’, sung by Mahan, the bride’s brother-in-law. They also had an after-party at the underground club B London, with Mahan on the DJ deck. Julia wore an Amit Aggarwal dress for the after-party
The couple’s jewellery was from Renu Zaveri, Raj Mahtani Couture Jewels and Gauri Monga, mixed with heirloom pieces from the groom’s grandmothers' pieces.
