This Bride Made Her Own Outfits + Gave Very Doable Mehendi Favors...

We love brides who plan everything down at their wedding to the last detail, and Anhad was one such bride, who really outdid herself! Her wedding had so many interesting new ideas and inspiration, and the best part is, that the couple put together the whole wedding themselves- yep, to an extent that even the bride's outfit and kaleeeras were made at home!  So here are some amazing ideas and things we'd like to steal from this wedding in Delhi and over to Anhad as she explains each one of them!

The Bride gave banarsi dupattas as mehendi favours for the international bridesmaids

Along with Ikat blouses with linen sarees for Indian ones

I had a lot of my girlfriends from abroad - so I gave them all Banarasi dupattas to match with my outfit! And for my Indian girlfriends got them ikat blouses with linen sarees for them to be matching with me too!

The bride had edible coconut kaleere!

The most special detail were the coconut kaleeras - the original reason why they were worn- when brides were to travel to their new homes, incase they would feel hungry on the way, they would provide for her hunger.. I got my bua in Amritsar to make them by hand in an old traditional way!

The bride and groom's outfits which were designed by the bride herself!

I wanted to be my own self and represent my ideas about fashion and style.. it took about a year and half to conceptualise and manufacture my wedding outfit. From getting the fabric woven, getting the embroidery pattern drawn and making the khakha patterns, getting the hand embroidery done for almost 6 months in front of me and then to stitch it to perfection.. all was done in house by me, all to convey a message that brides should focus on being themselves and embody their personality rather than just merely buying outfits from designers.

I opted for a single chiffon fully hand embroidered dupatta rather than the typical 2 net ones - combining it with an antique suchhi Zari border for the two longer sides and to give it a richer look- we created a semi precious garnet stones jhalar for the two shorter sides. I took an antique suchhi Zari belt and got it embellished with Swarovski crystals to clinch my waist over the anarkali!!

The bride's jewellery, and those lust-worthy shoes!

The shoes were limited edition Valentino rock studs! Since the whole outfit had a unique feel, I wanted to mix and match my jewellery rather than a typical set, so some pieces were commissioned and some picked up and matched with each other- from Jagdish Jewelers in Chandigarh and Neety Singh in Gurgaon.

The bride's self made mehendi outfit

My mehendi outfit was inspired by this Uzbeki antique headpiece worn by the traditional royals in Uzbekistan.. I designed the outfit around it using a traditional kheem khaab Banarasi fabric for the kurta and a silk ikat for the lehenga - combined with a mukaish dupatta to complete the look!

The Wedding Decor which was contemporary and stylish!

We had a winter afternoon Sikh wedding where we created the Gurudwara Sahib at the venue in Sanskriti Greens in Delhi. The decor was done by Interior Designer Manjeet Bullar - everything specially commissioned for the event! All furniture made of Burma teakwood and hairon leather! The stage sofa made of teak, leather and gold leafing and the Persian carpet- from the Carpet Cellar and Antique brass pots used for decor - sourced from Amritsar by Manjeet Bullar.
