Whether it's your favourite aunt coming in to town, or that uncle who always got you M&M packets from the states, chances are the days of your wedding are going to be full of guests you love flying in from different areas
Invitation by Customizing Creativity
1. Accommodation: While most guests just bunk with the family, and that's the fun of a wedding, sometimes the logistics may not always work out with the number of outstation guests (and we recommend the bride/ grooms room does not get compromised by guests). Incase you are planning to put them up in a guest house nearby, try to choose a hotel near the venue of the events so that commute is easier for them. 2 . Care packages in their rooms : A basic care package of bottled water, nuts, cookies/ chips , namkeen or other tid-bits when guests get hungry go a long way in putting a smile on their faces. Make sure you have assembled a little list of things to put in each guests room (its economical for you as well, as mini bars can get quite expensive ) 3. Minibar consumption: Depending on your budget you would want to sort out how you handle the minibar. In general, the hosts either empty out the mini bar and put their own store brought tid-bits themselves (recommended), or some of them specifically mention that mini bar/ wifi consumption would be charged extra, while others throw in the mini bar into the package. 4. Travel organiser : It's super important to appoint one key person responsible for logistic at each area- the venue, your home and at the hotel where your guests are staying or things can go hay wire. The travel organiser should have names and numbers of drivers and cars assigned, as well as names, numbers and room numbers of each guest travelling so that your favourite aunt doesn't get left behind at the hotel The travel organiser should also be in charge of receiving guests at the airport/ railway station 5. Salon appointments : For guests coming in to your city, it is your responsibility to either place a list of recommended salons in each room, or tell them before hand of the 3-4 salons you may have made bookings in . If you aren't booking on behalf of the family, then inform the salon before hand that you have a big party who might be calling in so that Salons are prepared. 6. Time in - between : If you have some guests who are visiting your city for the first time, its natural that they would want to site see for the time in between. Make sure they are equipped with the resources to do so, by telling your drivers to be guides to them, or giving them a list of items they could see in your city or restaurants they must eat at. A little travel guide goes a long way in making them feel comfortable and remember a lot of them may be combining your wedding with a vacation . 7. Co-ordination is key: Make sure these guests are on top of event timings, guest dress codes , timings of when the family has left the home for the venue and so on . We recommend creating a Whatsapp group for easy co-ordination its key to better planning and ensuring everyone is on the same page. 8. Ironing facilities: It makes sense to negotiate ironing facilities within your package or else the hotel can charge a surcharge on all of these items, as rightly pointed out by our reader Mahak in the comments belowLastly , dont forget to take out time to to spend with some of these guests who have take out time to travel for your wedding !
