When someone says “Bridal Lehenga”, what's the first thing that comes to mind? Pretty, yes, but more often than not, heavy is the second word that pops up. But it's not necessary that a bridal lehenga always has to be heavily embellished and heavy in general. We are spotting more and more lightweight lehengas, especially in summery weddings, which not only are lighter for the bride, but look simply stunning... and are definitely NOT too simple to be a bridal lehenga!

Here are some of the gorgeous ones we've spotted off late!

Blush Pink Sabyasachi Lehenga

You dont expect a lightweight lehenga from Sabyasachi, but this blush pink beauty is super gorgeous and lightweight because the embroidery is simply tiny specks of zardozi scattered across. What makes it bridal looking is the super heavy jaal work on the dupatta - but its still light enough to wear on summer wedding days.

We spotted this red and pink bridal lehenga by Anushree Reddy on WMG Real Bride Karuna, who wore it for her wedding in Nepal. It has scattered chaandbali motifs which make it look fancy but not too simple, contemporary yet modern... and not to forget, lightweight!

How gorgeous is this pretty pastel lehenga for a day wedding? Quite a rare colour combination for a bride! We spotted it on our real bride Krutika, who wore it for her afternoon nuptials in a pretty Bangalore wedding.

WMG spotted this onion pink and gold pastel lehenga with soft shimmer at a Real Wedding in Goa and it was love at first sight! This lightweight fluid lehenga lends an ethereal vibe, making the bride Kiran seem right out of a fairytale!

Beautiful Candy Pink Banarsi Lehenga by Ekaya

We absolutely loved Manini's aesthetic. Her lightweight banarsi lehenga was rich in heritage, color and fabric but not in weight. Paired with a contrast orange dupatta, she looked lovely.

Peach Raw Silk Lehenga by Payal Singhal

No one does raw silk better than Payal Singhal, and this stunning coral lehenga at the Ensemble Design Studio was what caught WMG Red Carpet Bride Kanishka's eye. A light lehenga in raw silk with a crop top, this one has parrots in the detailing... so apt for a modern bride!

Pink and Blue Lehenga by Madsam Tinzin★ 4.9

This lehenga is perfect for two things- one for the bride who wants to a hatke pink lehenga, and two- for a summer wedding! Lightweight with sequin work instead of the usual kali work, this one really stands out!

Red and Gold Bridal Lehenga by Bhumika Sharma

Who said a red lehenga has to be heavy? This gorgeous red and gold lehenga was spotted in a beautiful spring Gurudwara wedding, with the bride Sakshi not only sporting a lightweight lehenga with gold embroidered roses, but choosing to pair it with a floral print dupatta!

Bright Red Bridal Lehenga by Astha Narang★ 4.3

If red is what you want for the wedding, but not in the usual Indian bridal way, then this bright red lightweight lehenga by Astha Narang is perfect! A heavier blouse with sequin gradient work on the lehenga, it really does look stunning!

Rich Red Monotone Lehenga by Sabyasachi Mukherjee★ 4.9

Monotone might sound boring, but it looks stunning! This deep jewel toned bridal lehenga was spotted on WMG Real bride Divya. The sheer full sleeves blouse and the lehenga with threadwork all over looks so elegant and modern at the same time!

White and Pink Bridal Lehenga by Neeta Lulla★ 4.9

This lightweight white and pink lehenga is perfect for a no-fuss morning wedding, when the aim is to have more fun! Delicate, yet easy to carry! Spotted on WMG Real Bride Aditi for her Goa wedding.

Silk Mughal Print Lehenga by Anita Dongre

This collection of Anita Dongre is a far cry from her earlier gota patti collections. The lehenga collection is so pretty and includes oriental prints so they take up for the lack of shine, but it's so lightweight and gorg!

Lace saris / lehengas by Shehla Khan

Lace always makes the outfit very western and vintage, so you don't need heavy sequin work or heavier embroideries to do the job. And who's the most popular designer in that category? Shehla Khan who really knows how to use French lace and light embroideries.
