A cape on a wedding lehenga is a unique way to style it. Although it is a style that is now taken up for Mehendi’s I’d say even for a wedding day a jacket/cape lehenga with a jewelled Indian hair hand/matha pati can look stunning and unique at the same time.
Another way for brides to style their wedding lehenga is to ditch the traditional blouse and go for a contemporary style one. We rate less see thinner strappy blouses or multiple layers on the blouse cuts. The shift in the traditional blouse itself adds a unique factor! To maintain the traditional balance there’s always the dupattas that complete it.

This pandemic has given the brides of 2021 the amazing opportunity of dressing for themselves and not for a 1000 people wedding filled with random uncles and aunties. Enjoy investing in comfortable styles that you will find a lot of reusability for later. The drape of the bridal lehenga can change the look of it completely so ensure you have the right dupattas and the perfect drapist to bring out the beauty of the lehenga you've invested in.
Keep in mind that less is more when it comes to the jewellery. Let the heavy lehenga take centre stage and make you stand out, as opposed to doing too much of everything and losing looking like yourself completely in the process. Maathapattis, naths and haathphools are not compulsory. If it doesn't suit you, don't wear it. You're just as much the bride, without these things.

Every bride wants to look their best on their big day but that doesn’t mean you have to wear everything heavy and then get super tired.
You can style your heavy lehenga differently to avoid a lot of weight on the body. Use lighter Dupatta like net or organza with minimal embroidery. To avoid too much weight of the dupatta drape it around your waist instead of just leaving it on your head. You can also style your dupatta like a saree. And third way is to style your heavy lehenga with plain blouse and a haar with choker. It’s brings out the jewellery and keeps your shoulder feeling light.
Kayal Parekh says
Keep the neck of your blouse measured according to your necklace length. That way you can make sure your blouse embroidery and jewellery wont clash and the overall look will fall in place in a neat way. Another tip is request your designer to add pockets to your lehenga. It'll be a blessing in disguise. A quick Jewellery tip/ hack would be to stick your maang tikka with the eyelash glue to keep it from moving and creating a mess of your hair and you can move freely.

If you've decided to wear a heavy lehenga for your wedding, go easy on the jewellery. A beautiful choker in a contrast colour with small earrings and a few kadas or just a beautiful neckpiece with a maangtikka will enhance your look without looking too much. If your lehenga and blouse is fully embroidered, go for a simpler dupatta. You must make sure to drape your dupatta in such a way that makes it easy for you to move freely. If it's a heavy dupatta, make sure to secure your dupatta with lots of pins and its weight is evenly distributed so that you are not uncomfortable. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes that you can walk around in for longer periods. Wedges or block heels will be ideal. Juttis are also very comfortable.
Sheefa Gilani says
Make sure you don’t weigh yourself down with a heavy outfit and a heavy dupatta. Keep it easy with a super light organza dupatta so you can carry it easily. One way to reduce weight from your shoulders and neck would be to drape the dupatta on your arms in such a way that it allows even distribution of weight throughout your body. Your tip number two would be the jewellery, which is a very important aspect of the wedding. It shouldn’t be a compulsion that heavy neck pieces should go with heavy earrings. A super bride can look heavy or worn down in such an occasion, so as a stylist I recommend to opt for minimal jewellery over a heavy wedding outfit. This may involve a heavy neck piece and lighter earrings and various other accessories like nose pin and maang tikka which should be on the lighter side if your neck is filled with a heavier piece. I always suggest my brides to do this for longer functions like a reception.
