Chalkboard photo booths are having a major wedding moment currently and this day mehendi is the perfect example of how fun they can be. With a spunky bride that is all smiles , an absolutely AMAZING proposal caught on camera (Seriously boys, this is how its done) , this wedding story totally put a huge smile on our face this Wednesday morning!

Meet Tanvi & Avinash

Tanvi recounts "What was supposed to be a winter fling turned out to be an 11 year long relationship out of which we survived long distance for 9 of those years. We hadn't even planned to get married when Avinash planned that AMAZING proposal.  I am quick at catching surprises but that totally bowled me over. He met everyone in my family before I could even know what was happening and everyone was present at our proposal since he knew how much family meant to me. We got engaged in March 2014 and decided to be married one year later on 20th February, 2015."

The Proposal

Mehendi

Sangeet & Wedding

From the bride: I always wanted to get married at the Air Force auditorium lawn since it's one of the few outdoor venues which offers privacy and no-noise. We decided on a pink and orange theme for the wedding and my one brief to the vendors was to make it as bright and colorful as possible. We used marigold and roses throughout the venue and rest of the color was added by colorful lamps and led lights.

We decided to do the Jaimala on the bridge which also meant we meet each other halfway since we both entered from opposite ends to meet in the middle.  As for my personal style, I always wanted to be a classic red bride and found my perfect lehenga at Asiana couture. It was a Sabyasachi imitation  and I added very few details of green to cut the monotony. My front dupatta was a bright orange to add an additional pop of colour. What lifted the whole look was my Kundan set with big green emeralds added  that really stood out against the red outfit.

For my mehendi, I wanted to wear something traditional with a modern twist . I always wanted to wear a saree on my mehendi day but because  its a pain to carry those off, I opted for a mango yellow saree - gown instead. This outfit and the rest of my trousseau was designed by Jaishree Bellani whose studio is in Punjabi Bagh. I had only worn floral earrings that day and I made them myself by taking Gajras and looping it onto gold hoops.
