Bridal Breakdown: Sonakshi Sinha In Heirlooms & Raw Mango
|
|
Sonakshi Sinha is one actress in Bollywood who has always done things her way. Whether it was being relentlessly trolled for her size or the nepo-baby tag, she has managed to stay afloat with her head held high. Her wedding to her co-star Zaheer Iqbal was a fresh deviation from the usual celeb weddings that we get to see too! It was the most intimate, unfiltered celeb wedding, which honestly feels so rare.
Ceremony
It was all about celebrating the love and emotion, rather than flaunt the most chic outfit or designer. In fact, she wore her mom's wedding saree and jewellery which are around 44 years old! Her vintage look with heirlooms was an elegant choice- and of course, chikankari is very much back in vogue! Zaheer complemented his wife in a matching dapper ivory kurta pyjama.
Sonakshi shared her wedding photos on Instagram with the caption,
On this very day, seven years back (23.06.2017) in each others eyes, we saw love in its purest form and decided to hold on to it. Today that love has guided us through all the challenges and triumphs… leading up to this moment… where with the blessings of both our families and both our gods… we are now man and wife.
Here’s to love, hope and all things beautiful with each other, from now until forever ❤️

For the wedding, the couple had a simple ceremony and just signed papers.
Reception
The reception after however was a more lavish affair with celebs in toe. For this, Sonakshi chose a traditional look which reminded us of Anushka Sharma and Deepika Padukone's reception look.
She wore a gorgeous Raw Mango Chand Buta Varanasi Silk brocade saree which drew from their archives from the 18th Century. She kept her hair slicked back in a bun flaunting the sindoor, and the jewellery was elegant and simple- customised by Tyaani Jewellery.
What was interesting was that instead of the traditional mehendi, she chose to wear alta which went with the vermillion of her saree perfectly. Her own twist to what was a time tested traditional reception look for the bride!

Love how she didn't fall for the pressure and chose to have her wedding, her way! WMG wishes the couple a lifetime of togetherness and joy!
