Saher says Don't opt for your bridal colour!
Don’t go for your dream bridal colour! I went for a red lehenga for my engagement, only to regret it later as I wanted to wear red on my wedding day too. So decide your wedding lehenga colour and stay away from even looking at that colour lehenga
Parul says Don't spend a bomb!
The one thing to remember while shopping for your engagement lehenga is to stick to your budget. I splurged thinking its only one function and then regretted it because it doesn’t make sense to spend sooo much for a small function when you can save it for later. So I would recommend that you stick to your budget, no matter what.

Kanishka says Keep nature of the function in mind
Shop based on your function. My roka-engagement was a ring ceremony followed by a cocktail party. I wanted to dance. So I wanted a lehenga that wasn’t too heavy or too flared to dance. I picked a Benarasi one which was light, trendy and my parents loved it too. So one thing I would recommend brides-to-be is that shop thinking of the occasion and your comfort.
Mahrukh says Experiment with lehenga silhouettes
I think the biggest mistake I did was I stuck to a traditional lehenga. Engagement is the only function where your parents and in-laws are ok with you going a little modern so make use of it. You can wear traditional lehenga on your wedding functions so go for a lehenga saree or lehenga gown for your engagement

Ananya says Go for an unusual colour
I picked a lavender colour lehenga for my roka function and everyone loved it. So I would suggest that the one thing to remember while picking up your engagement lehenga is to pick a different colour, that is not a typical bridal colour.
Shivangi says Go to non-designer stores first!
I would say that the one thing to remember is NOT to go to designer stores first. What happens is that if you like one designer piece that then you keep comparing every piece you see after that to it. So unless your budget is lavish, opt for non-designer stores first and then designer.
Varsha says Keep jewellery in mind
Please keep in mind the jewellery. Usually in-laws gift brides some jewellery set on the roka/engagement day which we tend to forget and is expected of us to wear on that event. So pick your lehenga keeping that set in mind.
