‘The week before the wedding, I had a recurring dream that my wedding saree was missing.’ Brides, are you afraid to rest your eyes from all the designer fitting and visiting venue drama? Are wedding nightmares haunting you? Trust us, you’re not alone. Here are real life wedding nightmares with a happy ending from a few former bride non-sleepers.
1.My lehenga catching fire around the pheras
WMG Co founder Mehak says: Call it silly, but as much as I loved the fluffed out can-can of my lehenga, all I could worry about was that my Phera area was smallish and what if one edge of my lehenga caught fire. Eeek ! Thankfully that didn't happen, but I do remember very consciously side stepping and taking slow pheras so I don't take any chances . Haha,
2. Groom not making it in time
Krupa Kumar says: Long flights and transits are reasons for the lack of sleep during travel. Missing a flight and not making it to your own wedding is a nightmare! My biggest nightmare was if my fiance was trapped in the airport and didn’t make it to the wedding. He was flying in 2 days before all the ceremonies kicked off and I was so worried. Lucky for me he made it on time.
3. Rain stealing her thunder
Samhita Suresh says: Chennai rains are unpredictable, at least were when we were getting married. 2 weeks before my wedding, my good friend was getting married. It rained so much on her wedding that it really dampened the celebrations. The venue got dirty, people didn’t show up, the entire atmosphere was so gloomy. My biggest fear was the rain, the only thing I could do was pray and check the forecast continuously. No, it didn’t rain on our wedding, it did drizzle though and that is considered auspicious.
3.Something borrowed
Ramya Ganeshan says: One of the bits I loved about the wedding was the shopping. I went completely overboard with the shopping. I had EVERYTHING brand new including the smaller details like bindis and bangles. I just didn’t realise I wouldn’t be able to keep track of everything. My biggest nightmare was forgetting to carry something important to the venue. It came true, I forgot my reception jewellery, lucky for me my make up artist had a set that was a perfect match. Even now, I have that recurring nightmare!
4. Makeup Mishaps
Swaathi Wudali says: I have noticed that brides do not look like themselves on their big day because of the excess makeup. I didn’t want to look like a totally different person on my big day.So, before my engagement I did a lot of research. I settled on a recommendation from a friends and the makeup on my engagement was very bad. It was overdone and nothing like what I had imagined. Despite a change in artist and trial, makeup mishap was my biggest fear but it all turned out just the way I wanted on the wedding.
5. Blouse love
Neha Chhabra says: I was most stressed about my blouse fitting as it was coming from Delhi two days before the wedding. Also, being away from India means to send the measurements via email. A friend helped me take the measurements but considering both of us didn’t really know how to do it, I was very worried. But it all worked out not only did the blouses fit very well the work was also so well done.
