When you know a bride has waited painstakingly for 6 months for her bridal lehenga to get handpainted, then it's got to be special! And so it was- Real Bride Adya got her lehenga customised at Anita Dongre, and was involved in the whole process of getting it handpainted just for hew special day! We loved her bridal look with the pearl string waistbelt, the pastel dual-toned chooda and the gorgeous kaleere- her bridal look is definitely one that you'd want to bookmark, especially if you're looking to do a unique lehenga style!

P.S. Do check out the cute bar at the Mehendi with a life-size cutout of the couple's dog!

Meet Adya and Tarun

Tarun & I both grew up around the world but came to New York for college and then stayed here to work. My roommate was having a party at our house and I was planning to head out to meet some friends but as soon as he walked in I knew he was the one and I stayed at the party. We then continued to date and got married in New York shortly after.

Wedding

From The Bride:

We actually first got married in New York on September 3rd 2020, we then got married in New Delhi on December 30th, 2022 and then finally in Dubai on Jan 4th, 2023.

While I have never lived in Delhi, I always dreamed of having a big Indian wedding in the city that I would visit every year to see my family. I worked with Mistique events for 2 years to plan this wedding and I wanted to make sure it had multiple personal touches such as curated cocktail menus, a shot bar with a life size version of our dog, speeches from our friends & family, phera translations in english, engraved coconuts, instant photos and many more small details that represent us as a couple. We worked really hard to make sure every event and style tied together to represent us and our families. I work in New York as a buyer for a fashion retailer so my aesthetic and point of view was very specific for each design theme and I am so happy with the way everything turned out! One of the best parts of this wedding was that we had 200 guests fly in from all around the world, so a large majority of our wedding was filled with people who were experiencing the wonders of India for the first time at a big Indian wedding!

About WedMeGood

I looked at WedMeGood App whenever my planners sent me vendors so that I could read up on them. As a bride who does not live in India, these kinds of resources as super important and helpful for learning.

Vendor Reviews

Venue: Mor Bagh

Our wedding was held at Mor Bagh, I fell in love with this venue from the first time I saw it because of the small stunning details and the hospitality shown by the owners- most importantly their food is the best in Delhi and I have been telling all of my friends that they need to get married there so I can go back for the food!

Makeup Artist: Meera Sakhrani

Meera Sakhrani and her team (Hair by Dablu) were with me, my mom and my sister for all of our events and working with them was like working with family- we had so much fun gossiping and getting ready it was the perfect way to start every day.

Photography: Shutterdown Photography

One of my favorite vendors to work with during this process. Lakshya and his team made my entire family feel so comfortable and their sense of humor helped us have so much fun during every part of the process. His team is so professional from before the wedding even begins. We had guests fly in from around the world and they all were so impressed at Shutterdown's app and face recognition features.

Wedding Planning: Mistique Events by Akriti Loyalka

I could go on and on about how amazing Akriti and her team were. Like I mentioned, we worked with them for 2 years because we had to push out our big Indian wedding because of the pandemic. Akriti & her team knew that I had very specific requests and ideas and they made sure that I got every single thing that I wanted and more. They produced a fairytale for me and I will be forever grateful to them for making my special day more than I could have ever imagined.

Mistique Events handled our decor and did a perfect job with every event and detail. Starting from the Haldi they made sure that every event was magical and personal and you could tell that they were very thoughtful with their approach to each venue and theme.

Bridal Outfits:

I wore an Anita Dongre pichwai lehenga for my wedding look, I knew as soon as I walked into her New York city store that this was the lehenga I wanted and I worked with their store manager Sonal for over 6 months to make sure it was perfect. As an Indian bride based in New York, I was so grateful that brands like Anita Dongre have stores in the US- I was able to work with the brand in New York to make sure that I could have my hand painted lehenga done in time and they were so helpful throughout the process.

For my Mehndi- I wore Liz Paul because as soon as I walked into her Ambawatta store in Delhi- I thought her style was the perfect mix of fun and traditional which is what I was looking for.

For my Sangeet- I wore Seema Gujral because I wanted something fun and sparkly because who doesn't want to be sparkly for their sangeet and seema is the perfect designer for that!

Mehendi Artist: Sonu Mehendi Arts

I used Sonu Singh and him and his team helped all the girls in my family get our mehndi done- he was really fun to work with and even created an image of my dog within my mehndi which turned out super cute!

Groomwear:

Funny story- my husband actually couldn't make a trip to India before the wedding because of work so I ended up choosing all of his outfits for him and so what I did was I chose matching outfits at each designer- so for Mehendhi he did a matching Liz Paul look and for Sangeet a matching Seema Gujral look. For the wedding, since we went to Anita Dongre in NY he chose a look from that store as well to pair back to my pink lehenga.

Bartending: Canute and the Flamingo Trio

One of my favorite vendors to work with was Canute and the Flamingo Trio for bartenders. Canute was so kind and professional and helped me make signature cocktails with funky names based on cocktails that I love in NY. Not only did he make sure the drinks and presentation was unique with cool additions like ice shots and engraved logos- him and his team made sure that all of our guests were having fun and trying new things at every event- the events were a huge success because of their passion for making sure everyone had a good time!
