Ivory seems to be the 'in' colour for weddings right now. Whether it's a day wedding or a night one, an indoor or an outdoor one, a grand one or an intimate one, it looks gorgeous for just about any kind of wedding. Here is a couple who got ivory outfits customised for their weddings, and looked like a match made in heaven on their big day. The co-founders of The Tribe Karan Sawhney and Anushka Nandani recently got hitched after dating was 14 years, and their celebration was a happy one full of love and joy!

The sweethearts who turned into business partners met 14 years ago when Anushka and Karan met at NM Junior College on their first day!

Introduced by a mutual friend, their chats and constant conversations led to them being together. Soon after, Karan left the city to practice football professionally at Tata Football Academy in Jamshedpur. However, their love lasted way beyond the long-distance phase and in turn created memories to share for a lifetime.

From The Bride:

We got married 14 years after being together. It all boils down to a level of understanding between the partners. You need to support each other’s decisions. Karan was extremely supportive and trusted me to make all the right decisions for the wedding. His inputs were really helpful in keeping my spirits high during this time of frenzy. Similarly, keep in mind that at the end of the day, you both need to be happy and individually ready to tie the knot.

Don't put too much pressure on yourself, what matters is that you should feel good from the inside out. Surround yourself with people who support you. I had a set of amazingly supportive friends, and my family was an encouragement pillar in the midst of all this.

Vendor Reviews

Wedding Outfits: Padmasitaa

The wedding lehenga was a combination of different techniques like zardozi, pitta, mukaish, dabka and tikki work encrusted with pearls. The embroidery was all handcrafted vintage by Padmasitaa, the whole process taking over 4 months to come to fruition, only possible through the love and hard work of all the artisans.

Karan’s outfit was a collaborative effort of the fabric by Padmasitaa and elegant touches by Sanjay Hingu, a creative designer from Pour Lui. Intricately handcrafted with Mukeish and Zardosi embroidery techniques. The sherwani in purple hues, detailed natural jute hand-woven Indian fabric and some gold taars truly showed the skills of Sanjay Hingu and the multitude of artisans that gave their contributions.

Venue: Royal Western India Turf Club

Karan and I both always wanted a wide open space which is a rarity in a city like Mumbai, yet the moment we visited Turf we knew this was the perfect place.

Wedding Planning: Vow Weavers

Even if you think that you can organise everything as a one-woman army, wedding planners are crucial to making things easier for you. Remember to delegate tasks as and when required, marriage ceremonies are huge events, and if you are the star of the show, you can’t carry it alone on your shoulders.
