Despite being a self-proclaimed beach bum, our bride found love during a trip to the mountains with her friends. What followed is a cute love story and years of long distance dating. So when the couple finally took the vows and started the  brand new chapter of their lives together, it was only befitting that they revisit their memories of how it all started and opt for a hill station wedding.

The dreamy-eyed Dakshita left no stone unturned in making her big day absolutely magical. From the color schemes and décor themes to her outfits and the over all vibe - she planned everything herself to the t.

Meet Dakshita & Prakhar

"5 years ago, I proudly identified myself as a beach-bum, never a mountain person. But, somehow we decided upon a girls’ exploration trip away from the Northern heat, to a small hill camp in the foothills of the mountains in Lansdowne. It was October of 2016 when I first spoke to Prakhar and what followed was the most memorable month of my life. 10 days later, I knew something had shifted in my heart and I marked my feelings through an Instagram post having a picture of the camp milestone in the background with a caption stating, “The journey commenced after crossing this milestone”. As an Architect, never in my wildest dreams, I had thought of finding my comfort zone with a doctor. So we knew early on that it is never going to be a common city for us because of our diverse careers. The commitment to make our relationship sustain while carrying the struggles of distance prevailed, that is what worked in culminating half a decade of long-distance in our wedding," shares the bride.

Mehendi

"The celebrations kickstarted with a Mehendi function with colors like crimson, tangerine, honey, gold, and hints of Olive. I took a step away from the usual and picked a bright orange outfit for the most chill function of the entire celebration. It was a bright November day and the décor went perfectly with my outfit. It was a boho-chic number that allowed me room to move. It was designed by a designer from Kolkata, Divya Kochar and I had decided already she was going to get my first Lohri attire made by her after the wedding," divulges Dakshita.

Sangeet

"For my ring ceremony and Sangeet, I planned everything around gold and glitter. We had warm yellow lights with the hues of gold merging with the lightest of pinks and peaches for the glitter. I decided to go with a classic Astha Narang lehenga that matched my gold temple jewelry which my mom chose for me," she adds.

Wedding

"The main even when we took our “vows in the meadows” was a beautiful reflection of our first meeting. How could I not incorporate those views while walking on the aisle and beginning our new journey?! It all happened amidst the lush green mountains with endless sky views right above us along with the tinge of yellow, red, and pink floral arrangements. For a classic Punjabi timeless look, I decided to go with a Sudhirbhai Lehenga along with the necklace that was again chosen by my mom from a traditional jeweller from Kanpur, Kays Jewels which I accessorized with passa and mang tikka which was again customized by Ratika from Suhana Art and Jewels. The wedding was a mix of Punjabi and Pahari culture," Dakshita recollects happily.

From The Bride:

As I had imagined this day countless times before, I decided to be the planner of my own wedding. I started with a mood board for each event so that the outfits, the décor, and the ambiance could all come together. The picturesque view of the lush green mountains was what I wanted for the main day and hence, the hashtag of taking the #VowsintheMeadows was born. Prakhar hails from Nainital and there cannot be a better landscape in our country to recreate the views from the camp where we first met.
