Now this is one red carpet everyone looks forward to- not for inspiration really, but just to see how fashion can be stretched to it's limit. This year, the theme was the Garden of Time, and if there is one favourite we have hands down this year, it's none other than Alia Bhatt. She made her Met debut last year, but has really become the talk of the town this year with her glorious Sabyasachi saree.  But there's a lot more to her look than what meets the eye.

Alia Bhatt in Sabyasachi

Kudos to her for rocking a saree instead of a gown at this global event, and what a saree it was! Her ethereal look, styled by Anaita Shroff Adjania featured a 23-foot-long train detailed with florals delicately hand-embroidered using silk floss, glass beading and semi-precious gemstones. And as if that was not enough, it was a whimsicial beauty packed with ruffles, tassels, and a smattering of sequins and gemstones all over the dainty silhouette. This outfit took over 2 months to create! Her boho hairdo with a sispatti and minimal jewellery added even more elegance to her look.

While her look was clearly our favourite, let's take a look at some of the other noteworthy stars and their fabulous style at the Met Gala 2024.

Isha Ambani in Rahul Gupta

Isha Ambani has been on a roll with her looks this year, and she did not disappoint at the Met Gala. She wore a saree gown by ace designer Rahul Mishra, which took 10,000 hours to create! Styled by Anaita Shroff Adjania too, her gown featured a long train, full of floral fantasy. What was special about the outfit was that it also embraced sustainability by incorporating elements from the designer's past collections. Delicate samples of flowers, butterflies, and dragonflies were meticulously integrated from the archives into the design, via distinct applique and embroidery techniques.

Natasha Poonawala in custom Maison Margiela

A dramatic look that's being excessively trolled on the internet, Natasha Poonawala wore a Maison Margiela custom-made outfit. A sculptured white strapless bodycon dress with transparent black ripped chiffon embellishment was the focal point of the ensemble. Her Christian Louboutin's high-platform shoes and big pearl studs completed her eccentric ensemble.

Mona Patel in Iris Van Herpen

Dubbed as one of the best looks on the carpet, fashion entrpreneur Mona Patel stunned in a  Iris Van Herpen gown on the red carpet. Her look was inspired by fluttering butterflies in an ode to the dress code at the Met Gala 2024- check out those 3D fluttering butterflies on her sleeve!

Mindy Kaling in Gaurav Gupta

Reminding us of Aishwarya Rai's Cannes look which was the inspiration for this gown, Mindy Kaling wore a GG creation full of flair and drama.
