A quaint Kerala wedding is rare to find on WedMeGood so we were ecstatic when this red and gold one landed in our inbox. From the brides gold sari with an embroidered blouse, to the adorable personalised details and styling at the reception venue - all the moments have been captured beautifully by George Seemon Photography! Also note to self: The "Dance floor rules" signboard is the new reception must have !
Meet Priyanka & Karun
"This may sound strange to some, but we met on Facebook. We were never in the same city. He's one of my best friend's second cousins, we were commenting on a photograph, ganging up against another friend of mine / cousin of his. The next thing you know, he sends me a message on Facebook (a witty and charming one at that) and then, we got chatty. Endless Skype sessions ensued, eventually graduating to dates when we were in the same city and here we are..!" Priyanka recounts. From The Bride: "Karun and I chose to have separate events the night before the wedding. My mehendi was an informal get together for family friends and close relatives. We had a lovely set up of flowers, long seating along the edges of the home with plenty colourful cushions. A mehendi artist was around for the guests and I also had 15 different sets of North Indian bangles or 'choodis',ranging from Gujarati Bandhini work, mirror work, Rajasthani mirror work, Polki as well I guess, from the names I can remember. This was quite a novelty in Kerala since the bangle tradition is not something that's popular back home. The ladies were initially sceptical about being able to pick up bangles, but eventually had a lot of fun picking and choosing their bangles! I'm glad I chose to do this!" adds Priyanka. The Wedding
The Reception
"I stuck to my gold resolve for the reception and after tireless hunt for tailors who could custom make my reception attire, I got myself a pretty bronze lehenga - ready-made and altered and the best decision I made - saved myself the customisation hassle."
"Karun, me and our families wanted the reception to be nothing short of a spectacle. We were very particular about the red and gold theme, the decor to be personalised and a lot of good food, alcohol and music. We didn't want it to be a loud and obnoxious, but more of a huge, beautiful party for the close friends and family. Must say we were lucky for it all to have worked out just...as perfectly as we wanted it to! We also were extremely particular about the photographer being George Seemon. I knew from the day I had been seeing beautiful wedding images on Facebook that George HAD to shoot my wedding. In fact, I wanted a wedding only for George and Staj's photographs!" she adds.
"As far as decor was concerned, we had met multiple event managers, but no one came close to Creattio's professionalism, service, aesthetic sense and most importantly - flexibility. I'd recommend them to anyone who wants to organise a wedding in Kerala. The reception....if you're getting any event styled in Bangalore - go to Nilma and NO ONE ELSE. She has an unbeatable aesthetic sense, best prices and the word 'No' does not exist in her vocabulary. The Mehendi artists in Kerala are just about okay. If you're used to the beautiful Rajasthani designs, it's best to do a good recce and block Rajasthani vendors well in advance since they get booked out pretty early - mine was peak wedding season too and I was too late to block the good guys. My outfits were a dream. My wedding sari was from Seematti - pretty traditional. But the blouse - go to Ann at Safina Plaza for customising your clothes - Indian or otherwise. Refreshing change from the over chargers around here. My reception outfit was really good , thanks to the lady at Elan - presumably the owner - she is a gem. Go to them for their service and pieces you won't find in other ready-made stores - at an affordable price tag again.
