The Wedding
From The Couple:
Kristin Unbehend was working in Pernod Ricard 9 years ago, when she first met Deepak. Their shared love for motorcycles, when Kristin rode a Yamaha R1 and Deepak drove a Ducati 1098S, was what got them together. It quickly turned into a close friendship, that bloomed into an office romance. Fast forward a few years and they moved to Asia to pursue their careers and decided to get hitched in 2020 in Goa!
Kristin now works for Reckitt Benckiser leading a division of their SE Asia e-commerce business based in Singapore. Deepak lives in New Delhi, heading up global marketing for Bira 91. They see each other once a month for about a week at time.
The Proposal
Deepak proposed to Kristin in Barcelona, Spain where he first told her loved her. Two years later, they returned with a group of friends and family and he proposed in that very same spot.
During Kristin’s first trip to India in 2012, the couple began their journey in Candolim during the Sunburn Music Festival. Deepak remembers Kristin looking at him, dancing to EDM music, and saying “Honey, I love India, I will come here with you anytime.” She has no idea what she is in for, Deepak thought to himself! Eight Years later, they are here on that same beach, with their loved ones getting ready to start their forever chapter together. “We couldn’t have asked for our big day to be more perfect,” says the couple.
Vendor Reviews:
Venue: Wedding: Aashyana Lakhanpal in Candolim, Goa
The venue is a stunning property comprised of private villas surrounded by lush tropical gardens, two pools and private access to the beach. We decided to host an intimate group of 100 guests from all over the world, most of whom enjoyed a week of traveling through Delhi, Agra, Ranthambore and Jaipur prior to the wedding.
Catering: Chef Picu & Rakshay
Chef Picu & Rakshay, personal friends of mine, have prepared a special menu at Pings and will also cater the dinner reception at the villa through Jamun. Chef Picu, one of the most unconventional chefs in the country put together an exciting menu with a wide range of dishes from Vietnamese street food to classic & contemporary dishes that explore local Goan flavors.
Bartending: Arijit Bose, from Barback Collective and Karl Fernandes
Cocktails have been curated by one of the top bartenders, Arijit Bose, from Barback Collective and Karl Fernandes. They will feature local spirits – Greater Than Gin, Stranger & Sons and Cazulo Premium Feni to name a few. No bar is complete without every flavor of Bira 91 beers, especially the best one to beat the heat – Bira 91 Blonde Summer Lager.
Planners: THOT
The entire wedding, including the tourism trips for our guests were meticulously planned by Mithika Singha Gaekwad from THOT. She and her team were instrumental in bringing together all of the lead up events, hotels, welcome gifts, transport, décor to the entertainment at the wedding. Though THOT is known to curate larger events through the country, I have been impressed at the level of importance they have placed in getting to know Kristin and I and on delivering on every detail spot on to our interests. This would not have been possible without them, not a chance. Our guests are in for quite a surprise!
Decor: All Things Bright and Beautiful
The vibrant decor was executed by bright and beautiful. The playful mehendi design contrasted the lush greenery with bursts of color and gold accents. The team creatively designed the intimate wedding space by building a mandap over a pool with delicate candlelit floating lotus flowers floating all around. A beautiful floral display on the mandap accented the gem tones and royal purple design elements.
