Now that couples are putting a lot of thought (and money) into their honeymoon, which might not happen right after the wedding, but maybe within the first year, the concept of a 'Minimoon' has come up! This is a vacation or a shorter honeymoon you take right after the wedding madness is over, which mostly is a quick getaway somewhere in India to unwind and relax after the hectic time. And we found the perfect place for a honeymoon or minimoon in Rajasthan!
Lakshman Sagar, a resort located in the Pali district of Rajasthan, is one such magical place which you might not have heard of before.A former 19th century hunting lodge, this place has now been recontextualised into a resort. It was built by Lakshman Singh, the then thakur of Raipur, to host other royalty and the British, and has retained a lot of the old-world charm!
The resort is on a rocky hill, and nestled amongst the 32 acres, Lakshman Sagar offers 12 spacious and extremely private mud and stone cottages- perfect for the much-needed privacy you need during your time together! The cottages, which have rustic and pretty interiors have been divided into 2 clusters with six cottages on both side of the lake, and what's gorgeous is that every cottage at Lakshman Sagar opens to a private splash pool that overlooks the lake!
And the view? Well talk about a perfectly contoured view of the surrounding hills! And if you're worried you might get bored while you're there, there's quite a bit to do other than chill! From local liquor tasting, horse riding, live cooking to goat herding, fishing and vegetable harvesting, you can get a full rustic experience while you stay at Lakshman Sagar! You can even watch the sunset by the dam, do some kite flying, or just simply relax by the single rock-cut pool, which is breath-taking!
Best time to visit: Thanks to the heat in Rajasthan, the property is closed in the months of May, June and July when it is super hot, so plan accordingly.
Cost: ₹12,000 upwards for a cottage
Getting there: Lakshman Sagar is located 10 kilometres off NH-14 en-route to Jodhpur via Pali. The closest commercial airport is Jodhpur, which is about 2 hours away, while the railway station in Haripur is about 3 km away.
