Here Is Why I Wish Gift Registries Existed When I Tied The Knot !

As someone who goes through wedding envy pretty much everyday looking at all the beautiful weddings on WedMeGood, there are always those moments where I want to rewind time and re-plan my wedding all over again (I think one day, I probably will on my 10th anniversary or something). While a lot of those wedding regrets have to do with not being aware of a fabulous store, or not investing in a good photographer , one such regret also has to do with not having gift registries around back in 2012.
Picture this - I had to move into a brand new flat which my husband had recently rented and it had a grand total of 2 things in it - a mattress and a husband (With jobs and a wedding to plan, who had time to go house shopping?) . Not exactly the romantic abode you wish for right? So while I informed my immediate friends that more than anything else, I would prefer household items, I wish there was a nicer way to tell everyone else what I would need .
I say this, because some of my gifts I did receive included a very ornate fruit bowl in real silver (just not my style) , bed sheets with tiny hearts on it , a set of 3 bright orange casseroles and....wait for it...A 'Roti Maker'. Yep.
When I heard about ForMyShaadi launching India's first comprehensive gift registry , I was all on board. I wish I could have picked out some items I would have actually used, invited my friends and family to view and purchase my registry and end up with people spending their money on things I will value. Which got me thinking, If I were to get married again , what would I put in my registry ?
Here are some items I picked out:
So while I wait for my 10th anniversary for a re-wedding, the good thing is, YOU can still do the smarter thing of having a gift registry and ensure your gifting woes are taken care of.
Bonhomia Boho Coffee Maker: Who doesn't want a coffee maker in a new home? One that looks this good- is an added bonus. This would have saved so many trips to Starbucks on those chilly winter mornings.
Ananda in the Himalayas : With all the wedding day stress, you need to kick back and relax. Plus, Iv always wanted to visit Ananda.
Greek Honeymoon: Who doesn't want a part of their honeymoon to be sponsored. Hell, instead of all the hefty sagans my relatives gifted, this one trip was all I would need :)
Croma Vouchers & Urban Ladder Vouchers: With these vouchers, I could have done up my little space the way I wanted to. Whoever says vouchers are not personalised hasn't been married yet .
Episode Photo Frame: With all my new wedding photos, I always needed new ways to display them and this chic photo frame would ensure my memories get a space they deserve.
Olive Bar & Kitchen Date Night: Everyone loves a romantic date that's on the house and Olive Bar & Kitchen is the perfect place for romantic dinner dates. I would be thanking the guest who gave this for a long long time.
