A lot of us must be wondering what a lockdown wedding feels like! Not that we've attended any till date, but being India's favorite wedding planning platform, we're now being showered with quite a few wedding experiences amidst the Coronavirus. Before anyone jumps into a conclusion, the couples are now permitted to host '50 people wedding' while keeping safety & sanitization in place.
So when The Third Eye Photography sent us this beautiful Bengaluru wedding, we thought it's the best to share it with you all. For the couple who's wedding has been indefinitely postponed, can take notes from this ceremony and get started with planning an intimate one, instead!
Meet Charan & Meghna
Idea Behind The Pictures
Charan and Meghna’s wedding was pretty, minimalist, and most importantly, extremely SAFE. We laud them for keeping everyone's health as a priority. We also took care of all the necessary precautions!
We tried to keep the photos not so basic. While, they may not be pin-worthy but surely exudes a message to encourage couples and their families to look for such options for now.
Charan and Meghna, quite a camera-shy, not wanting to pose but you click kind of couple! Hence, we stuck to clicking plenty of candids. No instructions were given to them to smile or pose for the camera! I did request them for some portraits for the wedding registration and when they saw the pics, they gave me more time for couple portraits.
Please note: Every single photo is taken inside the house or right outside it. We strictly avoided a hunt for fancy backdrops or drive to nearby areas for the sake of pictures.
Steps Taken While Planning This Wedding
1. Safety of elders
As mentioned, their priority was the safety of wedding guests, especially the elders (incl. the groom's grandmother)
Hence, they chose to have an intimate wedding with only 20-25 family members, strictly following the govt norms and regulations.
2. Included the other guests virtually
All the guests lived nearby, & followed the precautions, before the wedding, in order to avoid any risk. Also, looking at the situation, the couple did not invite their friends or distant relatives and instead chose to make them a part of the ceremony virtually.
'Zoom' was used, for video streaming of the wedding to the local and international friends and relatives so they can be a part of it and give blessings via the internet.
3. DIY decor
The DIY decor done using fresh flowers and leaves looked lovely, to say the least. An activity that kept everyone at home excited, busy, and it all came out so wonderful!
4. Sanitize the hands
The moment the guests arrived, everyone was asked to sanitize their hands. Multiple sanitizers were made available in every room; including the hand wash areas and bathrooms!
5. The Bride did her own makeup
For a bride to do her own makeup isn't easy, until one's a professional. But whoa, it worked like magic. Meghna looked beautiful with a subtle makeup on.
Note: At that point of time (few weeks prior to May 4), we weren't aware of MUAs getting back to work, and doing makeup with all the safety precautions (such as sanitizing the equipment, with masks and gloves on). Currently, there are many MUAs who are following safe practices and doing multiple weddings in Bengaluru. So, those who do wish to hire them can do now.
6. Potluck instead of catering
It was a shared responsibility of various family members to handle the food bit. It was a South Indian food menu with rice, sambhar, a various assortment of side dishes, papad/fries/crunchies, sweet dish, and mildly spiced buttermilk. Simple, healthy, hygienic, and tasted amazing!
7. Downsized the photography team
It was decided to keep a single photographer to cover the event, keeping in mind the gathering size and norms.
"I had covered Charan’s sister's engagement and many of his friend’s weddings. Charan appreciated my work and the sensibilities I bring to the work I do, so we became very good friends over the period. Unsurprisingly, I was the obvious choice for him and his family. I handled candid & traditional photography, group shots, shot some video clips, and managed the three ZOOM cameras as well (whenever possible)." - shares, Anand Om, The Third Eye Photography
While we all are trying to live with the pandemic, keeping health as a priority, we feel this is the best possible way to get married right now! Because we don't know when will it end, and postponement may not be feasible for everyone. So, if you need help in planning a 'lockdown wedding', drop a comment below.
