Destination Wedding In Vietnam With Out-Of-The-Box Themed Events

Now here is a wedding that looked like a party! Kulvin and Dilip chose Vietnam for their destination wedding over Thailand and Bali, and looks like it's a great alternative for a wedding that feels like a vacation for everyone. The thing that stood out most about their wedding (apart from the gorg outfits and decor) was that every event was very creatively themed.. our fave being the after-party, which was themed after the nightclub the couple first met in! The bride's mehendi outfit had some cute personalisations with things that mean a lot to the couple!

P.S. Kudos to Shradha Luthra★ 4.8 for the picture-perfect bridal looks!

Meet Kulvin and Dilip

We met for the first time in our early twenties at a nightclub in Singapore (our afterparty was themed after this nightclub, complete with cages and disco balls) after being introduced by mutual friends 9 years ago. We became great friends and bonded over our shared love for good food and cocktails. Almost a year later, Dilip asked Kulvin out and we went on our first date at the Singapore Night Safari, which was also the theme of our Sangeet event. We decided to give the relationship a shot and we haven't looked back ever since. After 6 years of great memories and navigating our gruelling twenties together, Dilip planned a romantic proposal within a stunning rooftop lotus pond at the Four Seasons Ubud, Bali. Finally, after almost 8 years together we finally married against the beautiful coastal backdrop of Da Nang’s beach.

From The Couple:

Our wedding took place on February 4, 2024. When looking for a destination to celebrate this Sindhi-Punjabi wedding, their priority was finding a unique scenic location beyond the usual Bali and Thailand hotspots, all while still ensuring that the comfort, accessibility, facilities and the quality of food for their 200 guests was up to mark. We were lucky enough to find that in the beautiful coastal city of Da Nang, Vietnam.

Being a Singaporean-Indian couple with a bulk our guests flying in from across Asia, Da Nang served to not only be a convenient location but it was also a city less-travelled and most guests would be visiting the city for the first time.

The 3-day affair saw an intimate Villa Haldi ceremony, a ‘Safari Night’ Sangeet as an ode to the our first date, a ‘Tropi-Carnival’ Mehendi surrounded by the pool and beach, a beautiful Hindu wedding ceremony mixing both Punjabi and Sindhi cultures, a 'moonlit' reception, as well as a finale afterparty themed and decorated after the nightclub where we first hit it off 8 years ago!

We wanted an intimate wedding that reflected both our personalities and represented us as a couple and our journey together. This is why we themed our events closely to meaningful moments in our relationship and ensured that the ambience and energy reflected us as couple.

1) Event themes were closely matched to the couples first date (‘Safari Night’ Sangeet as an ode to the couple’s first date, Receptions Afterparty that's themed and decorated after the nightclub where the couple first hit it off - complete with cages and disco balls)

2) Bride’s mehendi outfit custom made with motifs that represent the couple and the bride (e.g. paw print of late dog, cocktail, popcorn and fries motifs to represent couple’s hobbies and favourite snacks)

Vendor Reviews

Venue: Hyatt Regency Da Nang Resort and Spa

The stunning 5-star Hyatt Regency Da Nang Resort and Spa hosted our wedding which served to be their first ever Indian wedding held in the resort. The resort was beautiful and their rooms were not only spacious enough with bathrooms and wardrobes big enough to accommodate guests getting ready for each function but also allowed breathtaking views of the beach. The staff and service provided was better than what we expected, Hyatt Regency Da Nang really went above and beyond to make our wedding a memorable one.

Makeup and Hair: Shradha Luthra

Shradha and her team are truly magicians. I didn't worry about any of my looks because I knew I was in the best hands. Shradha provided me support and guidance ahead of the wedding by helping me curate my looks with me and proved to be the sweetest and most talented makeup artist throughout the functions. I am still amazed at her work and I’m so glad I had her and her lovely team to doll me up for my wedding!

Photography: Photo and Video: The Photo Lab

Easily the best decision we made for the wedding. The Photo Lab (TPL) team is incredible. They made us feel so comfortable during the wedding and also won the hearts of our guests by being so warm and engaging while capturing moments during our wedding. The highlight reel that they shot and edited within the 3-day affair was shown at our Reception and till date, our guests are still talking about how that was the best wedding highlight video they’ve ever seen. TPL team is not only insanely talented but they’re also incredibly sweet and genuine. We truly wish them the best!

Wedding Planning: Planners: Veydaa, Kolkata and Dated Luxury Weddings - Da Nang

We engaged Indian wedding planners Veydaa who had experience planning and executing Indian weddings in Vietnam. They provided us with their expertise and functioned like a well-oiled-machine throughout the 3 days, ensuring everything went incredibly smoothly and that us and our families had the best possible time. We also engaged the help of local event planners Dated Luxury Weddings who provided great help on-ground and provided us with great recommendations for local entertainment and vendors, Despite the time difference and distance both planners were amazing at communicating and planning the wedding with us, while also ensuring everything was on track during the months leading up to the wedding.

Decor: Dated Luxury Weddings - Da Nang

Dated Luxury Wedding conceptualised and executed the decor for our wedding. As a Da Nang based events company they were able to provide a fresh take on our traditional indian events. The decor turned out beautifully and we are so happy we had DLW on our team.
