Destination Wedding In Goa With A Bride Who Embraced Ivory & Gold

We love how more and more brides are experimenting with ivory lehengas on their big day- especially for breezy destination weddings! Real Bride Bindita pulled off a gorgeous ivory chikankari lehenga on her wedding, and we loved how she added a pop of green with her jewellery! Bindita and Wanchoo's Bengali-Kashmiri cross-culture wedding was a beautiful one, and definitely one to take inspiration from for a fun Goa wedding! The photography by Dreamcatchers Photography★ 4.9 captured all the beauty to perfection, and we love how the sunset jaimala turned out!

Meet Bindita and Wanchoo

We both went to the University of Warwick but at entirely different times. Bindita was working in London and Wanchoo was working in Dubai – they got connected through the careers services team at the University because Wanchoo works in recruitment and Bindita was looking to move to Dubai. Their first call lasted an hour and they instantly clicked. They started hanging out once Bindita moved to Dubai and this is how it began.

Wedding

From The Couple:

Our wedding took place on 29th and 30th November 2021. The wedding rituals stretched from Kashmir (Wanchoo is Kashmiri) to Kolkata (Bindita is Bengali) - the way from the Shubho Drishti with the betel leaves before she saw him, to a Posh Pooja towards the end where their family showered them with rose petals as they were veiled together. We didn’t want our wedding to look like just a party and very much wanted to integrate both our cultures as much as possible.

Our Mehendi was extremely colourful and we entered in an auto riksha with confetti bursting everywhere. Sangeet was very bling and sparkly in zuri’s ballroom and we entered with dancers who had led lights on them. For haldi our theme was marigold, so there were tones of yellow and oranges in the decor and the clothes. And for the wedding, there was a beautiful beach side set up with pastel colours - bindita entered with her brothers holding the var mala against the beautiful sunset

Photography: Dreamcatchers

Our wedding photography team was Dreamcatchers – they were one of the first partners we hired and thank god they were available! We spoke with Punit and outlined our vision for the wedding – Wanchoo and I wanted our wedding pictures & videos to reflect our cultures & happiness instead of a college party featuring Masis and Chachas downing vodka! Punit understood straight away and it’s now quite visible from our wedding pictures that his team were able to capture moments special to our cultural traditions and customs. We’re working through the videos which look amazing, and Punit continues to indulge us with small changes which mean the world to us – we couldn’t have picked a better team to capture memories which will last a lifetime!” Dreamcatchers had a team of 8 to cover the wedding – photographers, videographers, a drone, and contemporary traditional videography to capture the Sangeet.

Venue: Zuri White Sands and Spa, Goa

The venue was gorgeous and we knew we wanted to get married here as soon as we laid our eyes on the property. The staff was very friendly and accommodating - all the way from keeping in touch with us for 9 months to plan the wedding to creating magic at the bar with the mango maza shots, it was seamless!!

Makeup Artist: Team Kajol R Paswwan – Gurleen Kaur & Gaur Paswan.

Just wow. Gaur & Gurleen were beyond amazing. They understood the looks I wanted and kept it as close to natural as they could, they were on time, super quick, knew exactly what they were doing and were patient because I’m not used to sitting in a chair for 3 hours! I possibly spent more time with them than anyone else at the wedding and I’d do it again – each look they created was magical and I loved them all!

Wedding Planning and Decor: The Design Bugs

We had 9 months to plan the wedding and thought we were doing very well, but had to change our wedding planner after 7 months because we didn’t think they could pull it off. We quickly spoke to a few planners in Goa, and found Pooja’s proposal from The Design Bugs in Goa to be spot on – she understood exactly what we wanted, gave us tonnes of options, was highly communicative & took literally everything off our plate once we signed on – it meant we could focus on our jobs and Pooja on hers! We weren’t easy because we were specific and knew how we wanted the wedding to flow – sometimes literally by the minute to capture sunset shots at the Mandap; Pooja was super patient, empathetic and matched our attention to detail. If it wasn’t for Pooja, our experience and pictures wouldn’t be anywhere close to how they are! She was super black & white and that’s exactly what we needed!

Bridal Outfits:

Seema Gujral: Bindita wore Seema Gujral for her Sangeet & Wedding – lots of heavy sequin work with a contemporary design yet traditional flair.

Astha Narang: For her Mehendi, she wore Astha Narang which was flowy & blue to suit the poolside.

Groomwear:

Wanchoo‘s colourful Mehendi jacket was from QBIK and wedding sherwani was from Diwan Sahib in South-Ex, Delhi. His blingy indo-western Sangeet clothes were custom made by Line by Shamim Khan, who is specialist a men’s designer.

Mehendi Artist:

My Mehendi was done by Aishwariya - she is based in Goa and was recommended by my wedding planner. She was very patient and created such a beautiful intricate design.
