Bridesmaid Guide to 4 Fabulous Wedding Outfits Under 60K !

It's hard being a serial wedding guest attendee. Specially when it so happens that the weddings are also close family affairs - you can't repeat the same clothes, you still need to look heavy enough and you don't want to drop some serious cash. What are you to do ? Well, I have been attending more than a few close weddings now , and thought this would be the perfect time to share how I got 4 outfits in under 60K . Now 60K isn't a small amount, but when you have 4 outfits- which are decently heavy, made by designers and look expensive it's a bit of a coup no?
First rule of shopping on a budget- keep eyes and ears open for all sorts of sales. One of my favourite stores, Anantam went on sale recently and I went towards the end of the sale. This outfit by Saachi Thayramal was originally close to 20K but it was discounted down to 9000/- Rs ! For the dhol night, this added just the amount of color and style - the embroidered dhoti with the peplum top is comfy but also not boring.
Another piece I picked up on sale at Anantam. I prefer buying unique seperates that can be mixed and matched later on. I could wear the crop top with a big flowy skirt or with a saree , and I can wear this drape skirt with a ton of other stuff. The designer for this one is Prathyusha Garimella
On a trip to Hyderabad I spotted some Banarsi dupattas. This one retailed for 2500/- which was such a steal because you tend to find these very expensive in Delhi. I got some plain white georgette fabric, got it dyed red and told my local tailor to give me a boatneck anarkali for a modern look. I didn't have red churidars, so wore a red skirt underneath which also added volume to the anarkali
For the cocktail night, I went Indo-western with a black and gold sari gown. It was a pretty simple gown, so I dressed it up with a big, chunky necklace. I bought this from an exhibition at Ashoka some time back. However you can find similar ones in Shahpur Jat for aorund 20K, at Kalki Fashions for 18K and you can even rent similar ones at Stage3.co
