Getting the lehenga of your dreams is just one step achieved.  Though we love our brides in all shapes and sizes and absolutely don’t propagate body-shaming, every bride does love to look her version of best of the wedding day. Here is a quick guide on how to get your body lehenga ready for the big day!

Step 1: The Basica

Number one thing- cut out sugar. Just cutting out sugar -that means no coffee or tea with sugar, is going to dramatically help you in less than 2 weeks. Throw out all processed food like chips, cold drinks and pretty much everything that comes in a box! Cut out all fake sugars.Start with a healthy breakfast, snack on dry-fruits, seeds or fruits, have plenty of fluids and don’t forget to throw in a lot of salads and a few multivitamins! Also stay off booze as much as possible. Just by doing leg press or running, you are not going to change your body type. If you have a pear-shaped body i.e. heavier on the bottom – that isn’t going to change. Rather focus on toning your body than changing it. It's all about a mix of strength training, cardio and yoga. Go to any gym and enroll for 6 months before your wedding and get your trainer to make a plan for you. If you don't want to do the gym routine, just go for Zumba thrice a week and yoga thrice a week. Get your BFF to join you so you can workit!

Step 2: Pick your workout

Tummy area - 40 minutes of aerobic activity + 2 sets of 10 stomach crunches *+ 1 set of 10 push-ups at least 3 times a week. Can't do a full push-up yet? No worries. Start with modified push-ups on your knees and work your way up. Also remember, for any exercise throughout that has multiple sets, you should rest 1–2 minutes between completing each set. Overall weight loss – 30 minutes of aerobic activity (running, walking, jogging, cycling—anything that gets your blood pumping) at least 5 times a week. If you don’t like ‘workout’ try power yoga, Zumba or even pilates! Toning – A simple and super effective way – 25 suryanamskars a day! Mix in cardio 3 times a week for 20 mins. You can opt for any training or workout that you prefer as long as you stick to it at least 4-5 times a week!

Step 3: Boost your metabolism

As soon as you wake up, squeeze a fresh lemon in your water along with a drop of turmeric and a shake of cayenne pepper. Not only will this boost your metabolism and give you energy, it also has a cleansing effect first thing in the morning. When hungry, munch on pomegranate seeds, watermelon or cucumber and carrot sticks.

Step 4: Scrub It Off

Lehenga means low backs, off shoulders and more. Use a scrub to get rid of all the dead skin especially on your back and neck. Massage in a rich cream every night before you sleep. It helps in keeping your skin toned, supple and hydrated! Your neck tends to get dark sometimes, so it's important to follow a routine: Rub your neck with milk once a week. Milk is an excellent cleanser and a toner too and it keeps your neck hydrated and moisturised.

Step 4: Laser Hair Removal

Hair removal all over the body is a huge huge deal. So plan ahead and figure out if you want to go all the way with laser or you want to keep it more temporary by epilating or waxing regularly. Timing is everything for this.

Step 5: Opt for a juice cleanse for a seriously flat tummy

Well, a juice cleanse is all about working your metabolism and keeping your gut healthy. And cold-pressed juices are the best. Opt for Raw Pressery which aims to give you a good detox cleanse package. If you want to look for an option at home, Usha Nutripress is a great cold-pressed juicer so juice away!

Also, Disconnect

Take a time out! Reward all of your hard work with a spa trip, massage or a bubble bath (Not with an all-you-can-eat day!).  It will help you refocus your goals, workouts, to-dos and intentions. You only get to plan a wedding once, so remembering what’s important is what will going to keep you smiling and glowing. Remember that it’s not just your body but also how happy you are that matters on this day. Take 5 minutes before bed and write down what you did for yourself, your fiancé and the wedding every day for at least 3 months before the wedding.  Take photos along the way of all the planning.  Even the things that go wrong you’ll be able to laugh about some day! --Apoorva Pagar
