2018 is here with bigger surprises and smarter brides right? How do we know that - just take a look at ace stylist and businesswoman, Archana Walwalkar ( ex-Vogue, current founder of Stylecracker) and her amazing style - she wore a tissue Benarasi sari in soft lilac with a zardosi blouse, Maharastrian jewellery coupled with kundans and a Bengali waist belt with beautiful headgear. Love love love! Apart from the outfits, her wedding was at a temple in the midst of the bustling Mumbai city and delicate but dreamy floral decor inspired heavily by her trip to Tulum. Wedding Planners, Shaadi Squad★ 5  (Tina, Saurabh, Riddhi) created the most ideal, most personal wedding that you can think of while photography by Aniket Mazumdar Photography★ 4.5  snapped some really candid shots.
Meet Archana & Prithwish

"How did we meet? It’s not the long, elaborate story that you’re expecting. We just happened to meet one day with friends and hit it off. Over time we realised that our ideologies match and everything was very straightforward from there" says the very practical Archana.

The Wedding

From The Bride:

Planning the wedding was effortless. The idea was to keep it as intimate as possible. We just wanted close family and friends because it’s the only way to keep things personal. You get to spend time with everyone on your big day and that’s what we wanted. We started planning it fairly in advance, maybe 6 months considering our schedules and jobs. The lead time definitely helped and we’re also big planners. I was in charge of creative and he was on team execution!

For the haldi ceremony, I wore a traditional lal paar Bengali sari but draped it in an urban way. For the mehendi, Arpita Mehta made me a cami-tunic and sharara pants out of a Paithani sari keeping in mind my Maharashtrian roots.  For the wedding, it was a metallic handwoven Banarasi tissue saree with a zardozi embroidered blouse from Kresha Bajaj and a metallic, handwoven dupatta from Akaaro. My dear friend Shehla Khan helped me embellish it. And finally, for the sangeet/party, I wore a Tarun Tahiliani lehenga. I'm fortunate that my core crew consists of all the top stylists in the country and I have my BFFs to thank for making my sartorial dream come true.

Shaadi Squad, my planners were amazing and we were truly happy with them. All our guests really appreciated them which means they were always on the ball, even during the wedding. They were professional and the whole process was seamless. Janki from Altair really stuck to our brief which was minimal, effortless but still detailed. The whole thing was inspired by my recent trip to Tulum, Mexico.

Aniket, our photographer captured some lovely moments at the wedding. I loved his edits and his treatment of colour. It uplifted the whole experience even more. Paper Tiger Films, Suniel and his team made me feel very comfortable. I’m super camera shy and I’m not used to someone filming me at all times. His aura was very calming and chill and it was like having a very normal conversation. He was almost invisible and that helped in not overwhelming me. My makeup artist, Subhash Vagal was amazing. I absolutely loved what he did with my hair and makeup. I feel like it was the prettiest I’ve ever looked and I’ve always wanted to look the way he made me look that day. I’ve known him for a very long time and worked with him professionally too. He’s the God of makeup and hair and I was thrilled to have him doing it for me for my big day. And as for Elton who did all of my party makeup, I’ve known him for a long time as well and I’m super comfortable around him. A day with Elton feels like the party has already started - while he’s doing your hair and makeup. He did something super unique and something I’ve never tried - the look involved lots of metallics and it was all very on trend and cool.
