Are Wedding Hashtags Losing Its Sheen?

A few years back, with a swift rise of wedding hashtags, integrating social media into your wedding became common for a lot of modern couples. Every day we stumbled upon eccentric hashtags, chosen by the couples after a thought process of hours or maybe, days.
But would you agree if we say that now the hashtag trend is losing its sheen?
Instead of actually enjoying the on-ground celebrations, a percentage of couples are more focussed towards the virtual wedding vis a vis constantly checking images uploaded with their wedding hashtag or updating minute to minute details of the function on social media. Though we know that there are a lot of sentiments attached with selecting a wedding hashtag, as much as choosing a venue or the outfits, as it makes it easy for the couple to relive their special moment with one tap on their hashtag.
However, this trend comes with its share of unplanned consequences! We have noticed how a couple ends up sharing their hashtag with someone other couple and suddenly, there's a mix of two different weddings on the feed. Eventually, one's left with no option but to change their hashtag, until and unless it's too late. Pretty awkward and disappointing, to say the least! Now, with the lack of options left, couples are moving towards making irrelevant, amusing hashtags a part of their weddings.
Other than that, there's undue pressure on the couple to ask guests to use it. If not directly, there's a hashtag placement in almost every element of their wedding be it the invitation card or a customised brooch, which may seem extra for some of the attendees.
We're sure that a lot of you miss the old-school weddings where the pictures are all about what photographers used to click. With big fat weddings like that of Deepika-Ranveer and Anushka-Virat serving as an inspiration to have a wedding with no cellphone usage, we foresee the hashtag trend to hit a rock bottom in coming years! But do we have an alternative for that? Well that, time will tell!
