There is nothing more fun than waking up the next morning and seeing scores of photos of your friends at your wedding day on facebook. Having instagram hashtags is quite the norm (and I recommend it !) and raised cell phone cameras are the most commonly reported scene at a wedding. What we want to know is- is it all getting a bit too much when each and every guest seems to be more consumed by clicking and posting pictures online rather than being in the moment.
Unplugged Weddings
In many weddings abroad, brides and grooms are following a 'cell phone free' policy. So no ringing phones at the mandap, no clicking photos with raised cameras of the Jaimala , no sneaky pictures of the bride entering through cell phones camera, no selfies with the bride and groom. You let the photographer do the picture taking, you let the guests mingle , talk and enjoy atleast during the important ceremonies
We know photographers would be only too happy to see weddings where they are not blocked by over eager wedding guests dashing to get the first photos of the wedding online, but would you??
- Those who are for it say that we live in a world where cell phones consume 90% of our lives and we should let atleast one day be magical , intimate and important enough for people to switch off their phones during important moments and let the photographer do his job while they actually sit and talk to the person next to them
- Those who are against it say that sometimes the best photos come from your friends cellphones who have captured the crazy, psycho, mad moments behind all that fun that a photographer would probably miss and hence having cellphones around doesn't matter too much
