Tips to keep in mind
- There are two types- one that has to be ignited and the other which has a grenade like wire-pull mechanism. Prefer the latter which are cool smoke bombs.
- You'll need more than one! One stick produces smoke for about 60-90 seconds, so you need to have a couple to get the perfect shot!
- It can get messy- some smoke bombs or sticks can leave behind a residue or stain, so carry a change just in case!
- Prefer using them for outdoor photography only, but wind can play spoilsport, so keep that in mind.
- Lighting is also important for smoke bomb photography. Shoot with it at a time when the sun is not harsh. Daytime works better than night while using smoke sticks and bombs. When using them at night, proper lighting is essential.
- Carry trash bags and water to put them out and dispose off properly after the shoot is done.
So, you think it's a good idea?
