Today's brides know just what they want and do not want at their weddings. So many brides are choosing to go simple at their wedding, picking to have an intimate wedding surrounded by those who matter rather than a big fat affair. And not just that, brides are also making the choice of having the rituals they want at their wedding, skipping kanyadaan and vidaai, which seem outdated. Here is a bride who had a yogic wedding at the Isha Foundation, and followed that up with parties to let their hair down- having a good mix of the old and the new. Her outfit choices at every event were on point- right from her traditional red Banarasi weave at the wedding to the two gorgeous lehengas she rocked at the other events!

Meet Shlloka and Shiven

"I met him over Facebook", the bride tells us.

From The Bride:

We got married on the 6th of June. The wedding ceremony took place at the Bhairavi Temple at the Isha Yoga Centre in Chattarpur- Delhi, a place consecrated by Sadhguru. The ritual happened as per an ancient yogic ritual called the Bhuta Shuddhi Vivaha which focusses on achieving a union beyond thought, companionship, emotion, body, on an elemental level. With pompous marriages in vogue, the sanctity of rituals has been completely lost- the former is a way of reviving the science of consecrating unions. The 45minute ritual was conducted by females known as sumangalas, and devoid of practices like Kanyadaan and Vidaai. The modest expense (donation) of the wedding was borne by my husband Shiven, while the reception by me- going against the popular tradition of having the girl's family shell out the expense.
The Reception Took place on the evening of the 6th June at majestic ballroom of The ITC Maurya with all friends and family in attendance, the Naval Band, with a retro theme. The Cocktail reception took place on the 7th June at the Delhi Gymkhana Club.

About WedMeGood

I used the WedMeGood App for my wedding planning. I found Himanshi on WedMeGood. And I decided my vendors based on the reviews they got on WMG. It helped me make a very informed decision.

Vendor Reviews

Venues

The venue was a quaint farmhouse at Osha Drive, housing the statuesque Bhairavi Temple. The place was enveloped by lush greens water body and peacocks. The Reception took place at the majestic Ballroom - Kamal Mahal of the ITC Maurya. We couldnt have asked for a better location and hospitality. The venue for the Cocktails was the lawns of the Delhi Gymkhana Club, which happened in total Military Style.

Makeup Artist: Itika Chugh

She was a thorough pro with my make up. Right from the trail to the wedding, her diligence to detail was noteworthy.

Photography: The Wed Cafe

Rajesh Luthra is one of the most patient and warm vendors that I came across with stupendous work and work ethic. We had all our functions, from engagement to the reception covered by him.

Decor

Shivank Agarwal's team from the Celebration House of G, did the decors of the the Reception. And the team overshot our expectations in terms of making the function one of the classiest decors

Bridal Outfits:

Wedding- Angadi Galleria Bangalore. My wedding saree was an original zaree kanjeevaram organza from Angadi which designs the most tasteful kanjeevarams and is known to never duplicate a piece.

Reception- My reception outfit was Rahul Mishra's iconic customized Hans Bageecha Lehenga in English Yellow.

Cocktail- The Cocktail Reception was a gorgeous ivory coloured Chikankari lehenga by Anjul Bhandari.

Jewellery:

I purchased by polki jewellery for the Reception from Karan Johar's brand Tyaani and it was the best decision I made. They have some of the best Polki pieces available in India. The wedding Jewellery was bought from Navrathan Jewellers who specialise in ornate temple Jewellery of South India. I teamed that with Pahadi Jewellery (Ponchi, Nath and galoband) made in 24 carat gold from my hometown Uttarakhand.

Mehendi Artist: Himanshi Saini of Glitsy

She is a vision and perhaps the best mehendi designer I know of. She was the first person I booked for my wedding.
