A gorgeous saree and even more beautiful bride make for a killer combination! Don't believe us? Well, our bride Vartika would make you believe. She rocked in a green lehenga for her mehendi but it was her wedding look that clearly won our hearts. She clearly had a lovely time at her wedding and the stunning pictures by Vivek Krishnan are proof! Read on to know what exactly was her vision for her wedding and how she planned it all!

Meet Vartika & Swaroop

Vartika writes how she and Swaroop met and their cute love story, "Swaroop and I met during our Master’s at Texas A&M University in College station, TX. We both are from Bangalore and met through some college friends. Swaroop was my roommate’s classmate and used to seldom come home for group studies. Over the period of a few months, we got to know each other really well and started dating. Right after college Swaroop and I got our first jobs in two different cities and got into a long-distance relationship for almost three years. The distance never came in between us and we made it work because we knew it was totally worth it. We have dated for 5 years now and got married last year in December 2018. We love each other’s company and are very excited for our future together."

The Mehendi

The Wedding

From The Bride:

Swaroop is a Kokanast (Konkani) from Bangalore and even though I was raised in the south of India, my family is originally from Lucknow, UP. Right from the get go our vision was to have a fusion wedding where we paid respect to both our north and south Indian roots. We wanted to incorporate the best of both our cultures and have a fun filled wedding. My mom helped me a lot in planning all my outfits. She travelled all around India and hand- picked the best that each location had to offer such as Jaipur, Banaras, Delhi, Hyderabad etc. A lot of thought and care went into planning every piece of clothing and jewelry for all our events. We had Gotapatti Mang Tika’s on mehendi, Banarasi Duppattas on baarat and gajra’s on wedding as a welcome present for all our guests. These elements added a lot of colour and life
to our events.

We always wanted an outdoor wedding and the Golden Palms hotel was a perfect location for it. Swaroop and I exchanged Jaimala on our reception day on a bridge built on a swimming pool at the resort and it was the most beautiful moment of the entire wedding. I always wanted to use “Lagan Lagi re” by Amit Trivedi as my Aisle song and it did perfect justice to our jaimala ceremony.

On the whole looking back at it, everything was just perfect starting from the location, attire, food and rituals. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
