Our FAVOURITE weddings are those where the bride introduces us to a host of awesome, lesser known stores that we might not have known of earlier and this one has that in abundance. Add to the mix, some absolutely stunning makeup by Chandni Singh, a fun game in the middle of their engagement, a tie dye safa for the groom which we are mildly obsessed with (SO unique) topped off with  a gorgeous gold lehenga scoured from the streets of Chandni Chowk  and you have yourself a wedding thats the perfect Monday morning kick off !

Meet Mahak & Shalabh

Even though they were in the same class for most of their school life, it was only after graduation when Mahak moved back to her home town of Bareilly, and came for a common friends birthday party did they really hit it off.

The Engagement

A Super fun 'raise the shoe' game that was organised by the grooms sister. Read all details in the writeup!

The wedding

LOVE her gorgeous gold lehenga with the peach dupatta and green blouse . Also love the grooms textured safa.

From the bride:   We had only a month to plan the wedding as the dates were decided on a very short notice and ours was a budget wedding as our families wanted to keep it simple and so was the decoration.

For Engagement: I always wanted to wear traditional outfits for my wedding, so I chose to wear a gota patti lehnga for my engagement and Divya from Cita9 (vendor details below) .  We also  played a game organised by Shalabh's sister. It was a question and answer round, wherein both of us were made to sit with our backs against each other.  And we were asked to hold each others shoe in one hand and our own shoe in another hand. We had to raise the one of the shoes in answer to the questions asked. She asked us questions like: Who made the first move? so both of us raised Shalabh's shoe. The last question asked was, who gives more surprises and by the time I raised my own shoe, I was surprised to hear the music and when I turned around I saw Shalabh and his friends dancing on the stage to the song"O Sweety O Sweety". That was a real big surprise!!

For the wedding, I had a hard time finding my dream outfit. I had done rounds of Shahpur Jaat, HauzKaz, South Extension, Mehrauli and even Chandni Chowk and had almost given up when my mother in law took me to Sudhir Bhai Saree Wale in Chandni Chowk (details below) . He showed us lehengas in all colours and patterns, but I knew what was I looking for!! Something unique and something definitely not in the shades of red and pink! And there it was, the lehenga which I as looking for!! I ABSOLUTELY fell in love with the peach dupatta and the golden skirt and  the intricate work done on the blouse and skirt of the lehenga. Second most important and difficult job was to find the right MUA. I am not a very make up person and wanted someone who understands my taste and doesnt make you look like a cake  on the wedding. A friend of mine recommended Chandni Singh to me and I also read about her on your blog. I had met Chandni personally before the wedding. I absolutely love and adore her!! She works on a bride as if she is an artist making  a masterpiece! And a special mention of how humble and polite  she is and keeps in mind the personality of the bride! Even her staff is very supportive (they got such a pretty gajra for my hairdo!!) A big big shout out to Chandni!!

Our parents believed in traditional photography and did not quite agree with the concept of a candid photographer. We really had to convince them for candid photography. After a lot of convincing and research, we found Jaun and Meher from Emotive Lens. We met them before the wedding and discussed what we wanted. They were very supportive and more like friends and knew our parents mindset. Also Shalabh doesnt like to get clicked so they knew how to capture the right emotions at the right time ! A big thanks to emotive Lens for giving us beautiful memories.
