A Ludhiana Wedding with a Hungarian groom!

You know how Nargis Fakhri recently said on Koffee with Karan that Hindi just sounded like "Badda Badda Badda" to her? It made us wonder- how does it work at an Indian wedding when one half of the couple cannot understand Hindi. Well, luckily Poorva shows us how in her wedding to Endre-Panditji speaks, Bride Translates, Groom yells a loud "Haanji" to everything. Haha, that's adorable! With a groom that kind of looks like Benedict Cumberbatch (we are true blue Sherlock fans at WMG), this wedding has so many FUN FUN wedding moments captured on camera by our WMG Handbook Photographer Rishabh Sood .
So Poorva, how involved were you guys in the planning?
The wedding happened in India and had to be planned in less than 3 months to accommodate everyone's schedules! And my parents hit it out of the park with the arrangements and attention to detail. I 'wanted' to be very involved with the wedding. But with the job and being in a completely different country, I had to learn to trust my parents to take care of all the arrangements. That was tough in the beginning, but became easy once I let go.
What was the whole experience like for Endre, listening to a Panditjit whom even we find hard to understand!
Oh, I translated what the panditji was saying during pheras for Endre. So we ended up actually exchanging vows since I told him his 'saat vachan' (and he would yell 'haanji' to each one of them) and my 'vachan' was in English too! There are many memories that stand out for me - my brother surprised me with a palanquin just as the wedding was getting over, Endre surprised me with a honeymoon to Cuba as the wedding was getting wound up. But the one that probably everyone talked about was the Bhangra dance that Endre, his family and some of our common friends put up at the pre wedding reception. It was amazing!
What about your outfits?
My outfits are a story in itself. My mom and I had dreamt for years about this occasion and an opportunity to shop for this occasion. But since we were both in different countries, we were getting increasingly anxious to get an agreement on the dress/designer. To top it all, we only had 3 months. So we just decided to look at ready to wear options in India when I would get there 10 days before the wedding.
The hunt started. My mom and I looked in Delhi and Ludhiana but we couldn't find anything that was 'special'. I would like something in a studio and my mom would not find it 'bridal'. She would find something 'bridal' and it would be too 'typical' for me. So picture this - its 7 days to the wedding, and we still haven't found 'it'. My mom and I are in a heightened state of anxiety since we both are scared that we might have to compromise. And then, we walk into this tiny store in Ludhiana, with a deadline of 2 hours before we 'settle' on a compromise lehenga. And we both saw the one lehenga that not only did we both love, but we were sure that this was it. In fact, I tried it on, got misty eyed, looked over at my mom and so was she. Sigh.
Any wedding professionals you want to give a shout out to?
I have to say that Rishabh has been downright amazing in hearing me out on my ideas about the photographs and the videos. From FB messaging to to being woken up in the middle of the night to listen to my 'vision', he has been very open minded to say the least. And I now look at him more like a friend than a photographer. And he has created absolute magic in the pictures! I had an absolute blast in all the pictures, and both Endre and Rishabh indulged me :).
Another vendor that really helped us and went above and beyond was our travel agency - Grand Travel Planners. I want to give Shafoli and Vibhor a big shout out for taking care of all our guests from Canada. They were even hand in glove with Endre in planning the surprise honeymoon! Heavily recommended for all travels to Asia from North America!

Meet Poorva & Endre
The jury is still out on who developed an Interest in the other first, says Poorva. Work colleagues in an IT firm, Poorva liked him from the start for his determination and sensitivity. "He told me that he found my blend of Indian and personal values very fascinating :) Very shortly after we started dating, we both knew that we wanted to be together for life. That's when I made a phone call to India - "Mummy Papa, it would be nice if you visited Canada. No, scratch that, I need you to come see me". I guess they had been waiting with bated breath for a call like that, and they had Endre over for dinner 10 days after that phone call :) And my amazing parents immediately saw Endre for the amazing person that he was - the differences didn't even matter to them! " She recounts. Hurray for Open minded parents, huh!No jokes, that is one of the most beautiful pre-wedding shots I have seen
