We wouldn't have thought of Chiang Mai as an ideal place to have a destination Indian wedding, but the more we look at these photos, the more we go
"OMG, why didn't we think of that before !!!" . With its ancient temples, culture and mystery it's the perfect recipe for an offbeat Indian wedding ! There are so many details in this wedding we love- the oriental theme mehendi, the turquoise pagdis, the cream kalire, the oriental umbrella over the bride and ofcourse the gorgeous, gorgeous backdrops that will take your breath away- all captured by the talented India based team at
Wed Red Studios !
Meet Rasna & Chirayu
The minute you press play on that video at the end, you will find there is this warmth and opennes that this couple exudes that immediately wants you to get to know them better ! They met 9 years ago in New York through a common friend. What followed were innumerable dates, and a lot of fun moments only to be topped by the biggest moment of all- a proposal in Paris.

The Reception
From the bride:
Its almost impossible to decide which event was the most fun as we ensured that each event set a different tone and environment for our guests. Our mehndi was super fun with the oriental themed attributes, tug-of-war and dances. The impromptu pyjama party we had after our more sophisticated reception, was so much fun for all. We let loose in our pjs, relaxed with foot massages, ate authentic thai food at wee hours and partied till dawn :) The most beautiful and memorable events for us were definitely the Wedding and Reception held at the gorgeous Dhara Dhevi Resort Chiang Mai. There really are no words to describe how impressive this property is. A must see! The ancient temple like architecture, phenomenal service, food & ambience possibly made this day perfect.
Our Welcome Dinner- With Chiang Mai being set in the north of Thailand, and the city being immersed in the mountains and jungle, we decided on a TRIBAL theme. We had lots of awesome tribal jewelry as giveaways. Entertainment was fire dancers, an awesome percussionist, tribal face painting ! The mehendi was oriental theme, Inspired by my lehenga ☺ We had the event in the gardens of the Shangri La Chiang Mai. It was a perfect setting by the pool, with pergolas and beds, which were apt for a mehendi. Oriental elements introduced were: Chinese Lion dances, cherry blossom tree knotted with glass bangles, fan painting & massages. Another super fun element of our mehendi was the TUG OF WAR!! Instead of doing a battle of the shoe stealing at the wedding, he had a brilliant idea to replace this tradition with a battle between the two sides. It was epic. My family and friends also did some gorgeous dances for us which was a touching surprise.
