A Delhi Wedding with a Foreign Connection: Arti & Dennis

Question: Whats more fun than an Indian groom on an elephant and his crazy baraat taking over the streets of Delhi? Answer: When the baraatis are all from foreign countries ! While we guys in India may dream of exotic destinations like Krabi, Vegas and Hua Hin to have our own weddings - meet a couple who had their own Big Fat Destination wedding right here in New Delhi !! Oh my god you guys, this wedding seems so fun I wish I was one of their friends from the 40 odd countries they had invited ! Shot gorgeously by Dot Dusk who not only did the photography but the beautiful video too (at the end) and featuring a Dolly J lehenga we are drooling after, this one is not to be missed !

Meet Arti & Dennis

The only connection they have to India is that Arti's dad is Indian. Neither of them lived in India-  both were working for International Organizations based in Sri Lanka. They met through common  friends and were  introduced during a surfing weekend trip . Arti says " It took only six weeks for me to propose him ;-) " . Woohoo, any bride who takes the first step gets a big thumbs up from us!

The Wedding

So Arti, Why India? It seems like both of you are settled abroad ...

My father's Indian and it was his dream to have his only daughter wedding in India and why not India? I think Indian weddings is one of most exciting and beautiful weddings in the world.  I also wanted to use this opportunity to invite many of my friends from around the world to experience the beautiful traditions in India.  We  kicked off the festivities with Puja at Hindu temple, Youngster Night (Great Gatsby theme), Sangeet , Mehendi and Wedding .

So what did you enjoy the most?

We had friends from more than 40 countries join our special days. Our friends are from South America, Africa, America, Europe, Middle East and Asia which made this wedding very international and special.  Many of our international friends had to practice Bollywood dance for the Sangeet night. We mixed many friends together and it was nice to see them becoming friends and performing Bollywood songs together. The youngsters night was organized by many of our close friends. They created fun games and we got to dance to old tunes! It was great!  All the people we hired were a pleasure to work with Pooja (my makeup artist) , Sushiya (they did the sushi!), and Dot Dusk Studios !
