A 2 States Wedding With A Ravishing Bride In Red!

The pandemic ruined this couple's Rajasthan wedding, so they brought Rajasthan to Australia! Suneeta and Kartheek got their dream wedding after lots of ups and downs no thanks to the pandemic, but it all ended, or rather started beautifully for them! We loved their beautiful and classic wedding, with Suneeta nailing the traditional red Sabyasachi bride look! A bridal look definitely worth pinning!

Meet Suneeta & Kartheek

We met at university, it was my first week and I went to a meet and greet for the Bollywood dance club. Apparently Kartheek was there to 'help with the sound system', because he did not dance at all. He acted very strange and aloof, which I later found out was some sort of tactic to get my attention - who knew?! Well it worked and we have been together ever since then, 8 years!

Reception

From The Bride:

Our wedding took place on 10 December 2021. We had originally planned our wedding in Bikaner, Rajasthan as I always wanted a palace wedding in India. Both of us bonded over our shared love for India, cricket and our family values. As our families are from two different parts of India, we wanted our wedding to be a beautiful celebration that incorporated both Gujarati and Telugu aspects (our story had many similarities to '2 States'!).

In 2019, we finalised the venue and most of the bridal trousseau. When the pandemic hit in March 2020, we postponed the wedding by 1 year but the global situation did not improve. So in the end, we planned a much smaller, intimate wedding in Sydney - a lot of our family from India could not make it but we made the most of it to celebrate our love. The wedding ceremony was an amalgamation of Gujarati and Telugu hindu rituals and we did everything from pinching the Groom's nose when he is welcomed by the mother of the Bride to the Talaṃbrālu ceremony.

On the day, Kartheek danced his heart out in the baaraat even though he has two left feet! It was forecasted to rain and the rain in Australia was non-stop for months on end. But miraculously, we woke up to sunshine and blue skies and it stayed that way for the entire ceremony!

It was a really emotional time for us after all the disappointments and stresses in 2020 & 2021, we finally had our beautiful, classic yet unique wedding with so many of our close friends and family.

Vendor Reviews

Venue: Curzon Hall, Sydney

We picked the closest thing to a palace in Sydney, Curzon Hall, a stunning castle. They are very experienced with Indian weddings and understood our requirements really well.

Makeup Artist:

Mehndi and wedding: Sana Hair and Makeup - Sana is extremely talented, patient and fun to work with. I had a specific vision for the wedding day and she made sure I was happy. I loved that she was able to use a more natural base that lasted all day long!

Reception: Gather and Stitch - Gather and Stitch are super talented and efficient. They gave me recommendations based on my outfit and did not disappoint!

Photography: Sidd Rishi

Sidd and his team were there for all our requests, random unplanned changes and bad poses. Sidd is very down to earth and knows his craft really well. I asked for natural edits, no filters and he was really accommodating while staying true to his style.

Decor:

Symphony Events Pty Ltd (Mehendi and Wedding) - Symphony Events really listened to what we wanted. Despite the delays and constrains due to time and the pandemic, they really delivered and even custom ordered flower colours specifically for our event to fit the vision. he decor was a mix of traditional mandap style with modern floral arrangements - a representation of Kartheek & I.

The Curious Florist (Reception) - Julie sourced amazing and uniquely coloured fresh flowers for our reception decor. I cannot thank her enough for her guidance and dedication throughout the process. I was a very stressed Bride by the end of it and she made our final event very memorable.

Bridal Outfits:

Anita Dongre (Mehendi) - While not in a chowk in Rajasthani palace, we had a colourful and bright Mehndi where I wore my favourite designer's stunning green lehenga. Anita's commitment to sustainable supply chain, empowering the women of India and respecting worker rights to create beautiful couture is a huge reason why I love her label so much. I wore the outfit with so much pride! And of course, I loved twirling in it.

Sabyasachi (Wedding) - I wanted to wear the traditional red ever since I envisioned my wedding and Sabyasachi makes the best red bridal lehengas of course. The design I chose really brought out the red colour and I wanted something relatively light on the embroidery. I actually had a virtual shopping experience for my bridal lehenga and it couldn't have been more perfect! The lehenga fitted PERFECTLY and it is an absolute work of art.

Reception - Anushree Reddy (Pink lehenga) & Abhinav Mishra (White lehenga)

I had two outfits at my reception, the Anushree Reddy design was my dream 'girly' outfit - the light was such a special and unique shade and honestly one of the most elegant outfits I have worn. They customised the sleeves for me and I loved wearing this super feminine outfit to show that side of me. The Abhinav Mishra lehenga was my most striking outfit , we fell in love with the mirror work, the high neck and full sleeve design and it was super light so I could dance super freely!

Groomwear:

Kunal Rawal (Reception) - Simply the best! Kartheek gave all his measurements virtually and the fitting was amazing!
