Your first bridal fitting- exciting exciting! Yes, the first time you get to try on (properly) your dream lehenga, and envision yourself as the bride you're gonna be! It might be a month or two before the wedding, and while you're gonna be high on excitement, calm those nerves for a bit and make sure to keep these things in mind at the fitting!

Carry your D-day lingerie

  • Bring your undergarments that you plan on wearing on the D-day. Find functional, properly-fitted lingerie with support that will create a perfect silhouette for you. Also, it always helps to choose a colour as close to your skin tone as possible.

Does your lehenga skirt stay up even without the tied latkans?

  • Lehengas these days come with a hook, zip and latkans. The hook and zip are meant to hold up your lehenga , while the ties and latkans just add that one extra level of snugness. However, if your lehenga skirt only is held up by the latkans, it can cause the fabric to bunch around the waist and look untidy. So always check- are the zip and hook enough to hold up your lehenga ?

Can you sit comfortably in it?

  • A lot of brides, wear their outfit, twirl infront of the mirror only to realise when they sit down, they actually find it very uncomfortable because the blouse makes your chest pop up, or the lehenga makes your waist bulge. Specially if you are a gurudwara bride involving a lot of time sitting, ensure you are able to do this

Carry the right bridal shoes

  • Preferably carry and wear the same heels you plan on wearing with the outfit, or if you haven't bought them yet, a similar heel height. But do try and buy your heels before the first fitting to make things seamless.

Carry your bridal accessories

  • If you have already bought the accessories for your outfit, carry them too and wear them with it to get a better idea of how it's going to look on the wedding day. This way you can change something if you want.

Test out your drape

  • Have an idea about the dupatta- whether you want one or two and how you want to drape it. Try these out at the fitting- you will get a better idea of whether that's working for you or not. Sometimes a dupatta may be very heavy for you to drape on your head, or might have too wide a border to drape over your waist.

Order your customisations

  • Pay attention to little things that you might want changed or customised- do you want to change the latkans, or maybe the inner border of the dupatta? Or do you want more or lesser flare? Small things that will eventually make a difference, now is the time to ask for whatever you want.

Take enough photos!

  • Make sure to snap enough photos of your outfit after you wear it- not just selfies, but have someone take good, detailed photos so you and your MUA can have a better idea! Trust us, this is something you'll regret not doing!
