Here is an adorable DIY for your engagement. Hang gold helium balloons from the ceiling with a photo of you and your husband to be, or just you and your family at the ends of each string. It's an interesting installation! You can even have glow in the dark helium balloons available at Amazon these days.
- Get 50 helium balloons blown up: Rs. 3000
- Ribbons & Photo cost extra
Rustic Indian
Water, earthen pots and sunflowers are all you need for this amazing setup at home.
- 200 stems of sunflowers: Rs. 4500
- Earthen pots: Use existing ones at home or buy online for Rs. 1500 each
- Water and candles extra
This one is sophisticated but that does not mean it cannot be done. Just choose the right stuff. Buy a few Moroccan lamps at Lifestyle or on Amazon for around Rs 500-600 and light a candle in each. The only big cost you'll make is on the stained glass apparition - should not cost you more than 10 K.
Arabian Nights
All you need here is some fancy cushions, a floor rug, lanterns and your mom's sarees or dupattas.
- Purple and blue cushion covers for Rs. 700 each
- Lanterns at Rs. 1000 each
- Tea lights, Mom's dupattas and sarees to hang against mirrors and walls.
Umbrella Spot
Maybe your house has a garden where your mom lovingly plants her creepers - so all you need to do is to put up a wooden mast and adorn it with colourful umbrellas and frames and used tires - done under 10 K.
Marigold Wall

Marigolds are by far the cheapest flowers available and most used at weddings and rokas. Take advantage of this deal and use them liberally all around the house. And the piece de resistance must be the tiny stage-like piece that hosts a flower wall with a diwan in place for the family members. Cool, eh?

Bright Lamps
Your biggest buy must be paper lamps. Colour-co-ordinate those lamps with sofa covers and table cloths and you have a pretty roka in place!
- 20 Paper Lanterns available at Rs. 2100 total
- Rent coordinated furniture
Minimalistic Mode

We were drooling all over Masaba's Instagram when we spotted her mehendi at her home. Now is there a difference between roka and mehendi decor? Not so much. So we decided that, if you are a minimalistic person then hanging marigolds and a few garlands should do in and around your home. The trick is to hang those marigold singles in strategic places - under the staircase, over the teapot and around the window sills.
Classic Case
The only two things that you need here to make this happen is 1. A neat white sofa and 2. A neat crystal chandelier that you can rent. Rest is white curtains and a whole lot of fairy lights!
