10 Things We Hope To See In 2018 Weddings!

Slowly but steadily, weddings in India are undergoing a change, and for the better! Instead of a garish display of wealth, they are becoming more about genuinely having a good time and celebrating love, which is something that we are loving! So we decided to put together some things that we genuinely hope to see more of in 2018 weddings!

Minimalism
Yep, lets hope this is one of the years when the 'Big Fat Indian Wedding' becomes more of 'Beautiful Indian Wedding'. Hopefully we'll see more couples give the insanely big and garish weddings a miss and focus more on pretty weddings which are minimalist- right from the bride to the decor at the wedding!
Split wedding budget & combined events
Boy's and the girl's side going dutch on the wedding or the kids paying a share of the wedding themselves is also something we look forward to, or at least hope for in 2018! Eases the burden on the parents and ensures more happiness for everyone! Plus, how much cooler are combined events like the Mehendi or the Haldi?
A different outlook on gifting
More multicultural traditions
Not the 'like the boy's or the girl's side', but fusion weddings which are a beautiful amalgamation of the two! Wedding traditions are beautiful but varied in our country, but seeing newer more creative ways of infusing them is something we look forward to this year!
Toned down colours
Of course, there are bright and festive colours, but using them wisely is the key! Pairing super bright colours be it in the outfits or the decor and having them clash does not look good- so we are hoping for better and prettier wedding colour schemes that are more pleasing to the eyes!
More pastel hues
More block print decor
Looks great and is a good way to promote Indian handicrafts! Block prints in tents, table covers or even drapes is something that not only looks good, but also lends a very kitschy vibe, especially for the Mehendi decor!
Promoting new talent & ditching replicas
Enough with the replicas already! There's so much new talent coming up- newer designers who are super creative and affordable too... probably cheaper than getting that Sabyasachi replica made that does not look like the real thing anyway!
Stageless weddings
Instead of standing for hours like smiling mannequins, ditch the stage and have a stageless wedding, where there's more interaction and really enjoy your wedding!
RSVP
Now this is one wedding tradition from abroad we hope more weddings (and the guests) start to opt for! It can save everyone so much more hassle and money just to have a clear idea or estimate of the number of guests, and looking at Indian weddings, we can really help ourselves by incorporating this simple step!
