So make sure to quickly do these checks before leaving for your big moment- trust us, this won't take more than 5 minutes in all!
1. Is the dupatta pinned to the head properly?
Can you move your head from side to side comfortably once the dupatta is on your head? This is an important thing to check since a lot of people make the mistake of pinning the dupatta on top and then straight down to the shoulders leaving no loose fabric. This causes your head to be stiff and uncomfortable and looks unnatural in photos. You should be able to comfortably move your head.
2. Is the lehenga holding up even without the dori?
Your lehenga should have a hook as well as a dori. The hook is what should keep it in place- the dori is mostly for show value. If your dori is holding up the lehenga, chances are it will slide as it loosens over the evening!
3. Is the length of the lehenga ideal?
Check for these things- how much of the heel is showing? Will it sweep the ground if you remove your heels? Your lehenga should end somewhere in the middle of the heel- not above or below it as it would be too high or too low!
4. Are you exposing more than you want to?
Do the cleavage check on your blouse.. very important since you will be sitting for a while and will be photographed from every angle. Make sure to get it checked from the top angle as well. You should be comfortable with whatever you want- no matter how much or little. You can use double tape to keep it in place if your blouse is puffing up due to stiffness while sitting.
5. Are there makeup remnants on your blouse or chest?
Bits of eye shadow glitter or makeup particles can find their way onto your chest, blouse or neck. Ensure your MUA has dusted these off.
6. Do you have a spare lip colour that matches your lehenga?
Once the MUA leaves, your lipstick may give way over the course of the next 5-6 hours. Have a spare lip color that matches with your lehenga for touch up.
7. Pay attention to how your lehenga 'feels' also!
We know you're obsessed with how it looks, but pay attention to how it feels too! Sit on a low chair and see how your lehenga feels- that's how you will be sitting at the mandap!
8. Do a stain check on the lehenga
Get a bridesmaid or your sister to quickly go around and check the lehenga for any stains you might have got during makeup or using the washroom in between. Get her to pay attention to any place where the work might be coming off too!
9. How is it photographing?
Do a quick mock bridal portrait with the photographer and see it so you know how everything is photographing so you can change up something you don't love- be it the drape of your dupatta or where your lehenga is tied.
10. Fluff your can-can!
One of the most important steps to make sure your lehenga can be displayed in its full glory! Get it fluffed before you walk out for the wedding!
